Yes they can. I just tried it out. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. Using the phone to go to my website. I was able to open, view, save or email the pdf file. So, yes you can save it to your drive or email it to yourself or anyone.

Chip, it seems like a great program. And guess what, Chip isn't paying a monthly subscription fee. And neither am I. So, the way I see it is: The kiosk software that both Chip and I use is awesome. And...free of any monthly service fee or ads. Like I said, there is no advantage to the Songbook DB software. We can do everything that Songbook DB can do and do it better.

And, if that's not enough the bonus me and Chip have is:

1. We don't pay a monthly fee to use it.
2. You don't need an internet connection.

This is your business. Software is probably more important than all of your equipment, music, etc. It's what runs your show! Yet, as the most important factor, so many people wimp out and use crap. In order to be successful, you need the whole package:

the best Audio/Video equipment
the best music
Great hosting and people skills/personality
and the best software to run it.

There's more to the above but you get the point.

For example: Would you use Shure wireless mics or would you use VocoPro. Would you buy a song library consisting of Sweet Georgia Brown and Karaoke Kurrents or would your library be made up of SC, Chartbuster and DK? I think you get the point.

Well, my friend... If Songbook DB works for you and it makes you happy than God Bless you. But don't try to justify how good it is by saying that other software can't do what DB can do. Because your wrong.

But again, if you like using inferior products, whichever they may be, that knock your socks off. Have a wonderful day.

I'm not actually sure how this thread degraded into a dick waving contest, but you're getting pretty ridiculous trying to claim that a pdf download from your email is that same as having a ready app on your phone that:

- Can be downloaded to any phone at any time from anywhere ... no need to access the KJ's email

- Instantly searches the KJ's songbook from any venue 24/7

- tells the user where your next gig is, time and date.

- Allows the user to create a 'favorites' list at anytime, 24/7 directly from YOUR songlist

Somehow, you don't see any value in that? That's fine. I do, and so do many others. A KJ does what they think is best for their show. If you think its a 'rip off' or what have you... fine too. I don't.

Your claims, as I've repeatedly demonstrated, however are simply a stretch in credulity... which you keep ignoring.

Finally, your knocks on 'professionalism' to another KJ pretty much discounts your professionalism.

Really, you should just stick your tongue out, and wiggle your hips while your at it.

In case no one has filled you in on this... claiming that you're more professional than another professional... is... wel... unprofessional. lol. If you are more professional, than there's no need to point it out.

Unequivocally CH's software does not have all the features that SongbookDB has. Sorry.. but this is a fact. Trying to add in a PDF download from your email to 'get it to do' what songbookdb does is NOT that same thing. The SOFTWARE is what we are talking about. Trying to claim a PDF from your emial is equivalent to an app.... SMDH. The only question is what is the value of songbookdb. Currently, its $14.00 a month. My opinion is that this is a good deal.

You misunderstood or misconstrued what I said above. You keep saying you have to go to email to see the song book, which is wrong.

But let me make it perfectly clear:

You can use your Smart Phone to go to my website. Once there, click on the Songbook tab. A PDF file of my Songbook should open on your phone. At that point, you can do one of the following:

1. Look at it.
2. Save it to your drive. (on your phone)
3. Email it (the PDF file) to someone.

Like I said, I tried it with my phone and was able to download and save the PDF file to my phone.

If you don't believe me, try it: http://firelightkaraoke.com/songbook.html

My phone is an Android (latest version) and it works fine. I won't promise it will work for everybody but if you have an up to date Smart Phone, I don't see why it shouldn't.

You win this one however, if you want your customers to know where you'll be next, just put a calendar on your website or post it on facebook.

- Allows the user to create a 'favorites' list at anytime, 24/7 directly from YOUR songlist
You win this one.

Untrue, as I have responded to all your misinformation.

Finally, your knocks on 'professionalism' to another KJ pretty much discounts your professionalism.

No, that is not my aim at all. Believe it or not, I want to see people succeed.

Never said I was more professional than anybody else. Again, misconstruing information.

Again, to each his own. If you like what you're using, I'm happy for you. I really am. All I'm saying is that I can't justify it since I can do or provide my customers with the same things that DB can do and do it without paying for it and without having to have an internet connection.

OK, but I will say something in your favor. It appears that you really care about your customers and want to provide a positive experience for them. And that's a good thing. However you decide to go about it is up to you. The bottom line is making people happy and it seems that your doing that. And for that I applaud you. We may disagree about software but I'm proud of you for doing what you can to please your customers. Good job.

You have a nice website... that design and web presence is all free???

Your website is not a function of CH's software, which was my point.

The search function of a pdf does not equate to an app's search function.

I also did not mention REAL TIME updates to the songbook. That is, if I download a song, it can be
added to the database immediately. So the songbook is constantly up to date.

Using your method, the user would constantly be deleting and reuploading your songbook to get all the updates.

However, if this works for you... I applaud it.

I'd also add that disagreeing with your point of view is not spreading 'misinformation'.

You guy's got quite impressive kiosks. I have yet to attain that level of tech knowledge. ‘still learning but hopefully soon.

Right now I’m still basic, using Graham’s karaoke kiosk. http://www.grahamskaraokesystem.com/products.html one time fee of $19.95, no expiration date. Find the song, fill out request slip & bring it to me so I can interact with them, small talk or just to say hi! (11 karaoke books available - side cabinet).

Load songs from c:\ or external drive folder. Updating, loading additional new songs is a breeze; takes less than a minute
Interactive typing – type two or three letters & it will start searching, showing back the result as you go along for those letters typed without pressing ‘enter’. Type 4 letters i.e.,“BUBL” it will show all buble’s song. No internet connection.

Optional: complete package: dj + karaoke hosting platform software & song request via smart phone - $99, no exp date. (not for me, tho’, also I'm not affiliated with this company in any way, shape or form).

I also subscribe to Songbookslive.com, ($19 a yr) for their phones.

Just checked out my receiver program (the program that resides on your hosting machine and receives requests from the kiosks) on a 32-bit Windows 10 machine....

It works just fine, no issues at all.

Don't know about a 64-bit... until I can find one to test it on.

Love that Kiosk Stand! It looks great! Another nice thing is we just integrated SongbookDB directly into the MTU Video Hoster Program! It works PERFECT!

You can see a Demo from Shaun here. https://www.songbookdb.com/docs/djs/MTU ... /overview/

No longer do you need to DO anything, once a song is selected by the user's Phone/Kiosk it then gets sent directly over to Hoster, and passed through to the playlist/singers rotation (if in Auto Add Mode) or you manually can add it to the playlist.

An added Extra feature that NO other Software has but Hoster, is the fact that if a song was added from a Customers Cell phone to the Playlist in Hoster, when the song before theirs starts to Play, (in Auto or Manual Mode with a selection to turn this on or off) it will send the next Singer a notification to their cell phone letting them know they are up next and the song they are singing. They can be anywhere to get this notification! Also if you have singers that try to add to many songs, you can ban them, not allowing them to add any more songs.

It cut's out about 5 steps for the Host, so you now have more free time to do as you please!

Here's a question:

When it "automatically adds" an entry to the rotation, does it just dump it in at the bottom of the list, or does it put it in the correct spot in the rotation?

This depends on what you have turned on for the "Rotation" there are 3 Checkboxes, that will do as stated.

All these Items are under Tools\Settings\Playlist button in Hoster.

Different Options and what they will do.

1) Manage the singers in a Singers List, show the List on the, left or right - This turns on the Singer List, and must be on for any rotation features to work. If you only check this one Box, it will work as a Notepad List with added features as you can right click on the Singers names, etc... while keeping all the stats for them through the show.

2) If you turn on "Let Hoster Determine Initial Placement for new Songs added to the Playlist." it will do as stated below:

Example - Singer 1 gives you 3 songs so they are the only one in the Playlist right now.
Singer 1
Singer 1
Singer 1

Singer 2 now send you 5 songs, now your playlist will look like this:
Singer 1
Singer 2
Singer 1
Singer 2
Singer 1
Singer 2
Singer 2
Singer 2

Singer 3 Now sends you 5 songs, now the playlist will look like this:
Singer 1
Singer 2
Singer 3
Singer 1
Singer 2
Singer 3
Singer 1
Singer 2
Singer 3
(Singer 1 only had 3 Songs so far)
Singer 2
Singer 3
Singer 2
Singer 3
Singer 2
Singer 3

Singer 4 Now sends you 5 songs, now the playlist will look like this.
Singer 1
Singer 2
Singer 3
Singer 4
Singer 1
Singer 2
Singer 3
Singer 4
Singer 1
Singer 2
Singer 3
Singer 4
(Singer 1 only had 3 Songs so far)
Singer 2
Singer 3
Singer 4
Singer 2
Singer 3
Singer 4
Singer 2
Singer 3
Singer 4

3) Run Your Show as Rotation - When checked, your show will be run by the Singers Names/Rotation instead of by the Playlist. You can left click any Singers name and hit play to play their next song in their list. If you do not have this Checked, it will play through the Playlist from the Top to the Bottom, of course this is only when Auto is selected. If you are in Manual you would need to click play to start playing after a song had finished. This Option being turned on will always show you the NEXT Song as Blue, if following the Rotation, this will be shown in Manual or Auto Mode.

Is this what you were asking? We have spent over 3 years coming up with the BEST way to do this, and 7 + months programming it.

Bryan

This is an excellent discussion, folks. There has been a need for a solid Kiosk system for years now, as well as high quality playlist integration with mobile devices. . . . .

Unfortunately, from what I've seen with SB and CH (and others), the experience is still lacking far behind software (apps) in other industries. While it may be an improvement over the past, it still leaves massive room for further improvement.

Sort of.... here's the scenario:

(1) You have 6 singers in numerical order: 1,2,3,4,5,6
(2) Singer three is currently singing and #1 puts in another song.
(3) Singer 5 puts in a duet with singer #1 (does this count as a "new singer 7?")
(4) Singer 4 puts in another song...

What does the rotation look like then?

C. Staley,
I will PM you so information to, if I am able to.

This is what the Image looks like, now I was playing Song 3 as I was doing as you stated. I was just a bit to slow for that Song and it finished on me and went to the Next Song, while I was getting the Image.

Is that what you wanted to see?
