Years and years ago, There used to be people who would latch onto a slowly rolling train as it rode by.Grandma called them "hobos". To let a hobo know they could get something to eat..(most were penniless)..people would paint a white mark out front of their house on the curb. Grandma had a white mark out in front of her house. They would stop, and she would make them a sandwich.
Toys for Tots is another very good organization.
When my children were small....we had a housefire, just 4 days before christmas. All the gifts we had bought our (4kids at the time) had all burnt up,along with most of all our belongings. The christmas tree was just a clump. We had NO insurance.Ended up staying at the inlaws...The day before Christmas Toys for Tots came with a huge box of gifts for the kids.We were so very greatful, and the kids were so happy.Other organizations came with new clothing for us.
There they were helping us,and we didnt beg,we didnt ask,but there they were lending a helping hand.I will always be so greatful. Just wanted to share my story....from the recieving end
