I just posted a new song which I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with called "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson. It describes how I'm feeling right now, which is that it's time to make changes. It's time to get outta the rut and do something to make life interesting. Is it because it's the end of the year and there are still things that haven't been resolved??

People who know me know I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to singing in front of people, but I've decided I'm gonna take the next step. I'm not gonna go all out and tell you exactly what's planned (in case I fall on my face, lol), but I'm gulping as I write this, I've taken a big step. Maybe not big in someone elses' eyes, but big for me. If anything comes of it, you guys will be the first to know.

You know, the years are just passing us by....I feel like I need to do this to see if I can succeed. Sorry I'm being vague, but you would really have to know my heart's beating outta my chest now just thinking of what could happen. Anyway, I'm breaking outta my fear in 2005. That's my big resolution.

What's yours??

Luly!

Now i am BEYOND curious!! You are driving me NUTs!! What?!

If you go on tour, come see me here, in Ontario:) Whatever your secret is, keep us updated:)

Ok, my "resolution" was suggested by my husband.

----->learn to talk less. silence does not need to be filled with the sound of my voice.<-----

Oh, and I still have left over resolution from last years, I have 10 lbs more to go. (I lost 70 lbs this year.)

I say left over, and it makes me hungry, that ain't helping.:)

***ohhhh, and another good one, I want to STICK to saving up money for a good boob job. I take donations.*** lol

Ok Gilly, just for you I'll tell you my secret: I'm getting a boob job!!!!
Hehe, NOT! Nah, don't get mad but I don't wanna jinx it.

I commend you on that huge weight loss, girl!! Wow, you must be a slinky little thing to match that gorgeous voice! And I doubt that first resolution will last very long. Husbands have tried for years to make their wives shut up and it just doesn't work.

Here is me embarrasing myself, by showing the ONLY old picture of me, a year ago. Laugh, and you die. the comparison picture from hell.

(I was only heavy for about.. 2 years, but, i will never see my old size 2 again. Lol:) Blame pregnancy.. right? I had a 90 lbs baby?

Maybe this will inspire someone else to lose weight?:)

but i WILL try to talk less. hard to go through life, knowing everyone is ignoring half or what you say.

Gilly, you should win a major prize for that accomplishment!! You look absolutely beautiful girl. I bet you feel a helluva lot better, too! Another resolution of mine is also to lose weight and you're my idol!! It takes a lotta determination to get that blasted weight off! It's hard to get back to pre-baby weight, but you've done magnificently. Don't worry about the size, it's how you feel that should be the determining factor. You should be extremely proud of yourself.

Don't know why anyone would ignore things you say. I think you're funny as hell and very smart. And of course, you know I love your voice. :D

Wow Gilly!! For a 215 pound girl... you carried your weight very well!!! Is that a pukka shell necklace? I used to have one of those! Congrats on such a great accomplishment... that is such a tough thing to do... at least for most people! You look GREAT!!! Hey Luly.... I'm dyin' of curiosity.... are ya gonna be on Star Search??? If so... ya better tell heheh!!! I want to watch it!!! Well... whatever it is... fingers are crossed for ya! I don't make New Years resolutions any more... I never keep them! But I know what you mean about being a scaredy cat... I need to work on that too!!

Sheesh Gilly! No way would I laugh...you know even at 215# you don't look it to me. Melly & I have a friend who just lost 70# and is still losing.
I've been lucky and have never had to worry too much about gaining weight, I've always been too skinny, until now in my old age, I can see my butt spreading before my eyes (well behind, but you know what i mean). :?

And pardon me, doesn't look like you need a boob job to me, so everyone can send their donations to me! I also take paypal....

Now I can see if you wanted to stop talking so much if you were boring, but honey that's definitely one thing you're not!! So just save all your babbling for us on here then!! Everytime I start laughing when I'm at the computer, Jordy says 'what did Gilly say this time?' and rolls his eyes.

So....I've already told ya Luly I'd have to get back to ya on the New Year's resolution thingy, too much to resolute!! You've inspired me though, it is scary to do something new and I wish you all the best in whatever it is. You know you have us behind ya all the way!!!
:D

I agree with you Luly, I think she's beautiful and I didn't need to see her picture! Love her style and she knows it, I hope?

A big year ahead of you Luly, I'm sure you'll get what you want! Remember what I said to you once on an email, YOU ARE NOT TOO OLD, just believe in your dreams and only listen to people you really trust!

A big year ahead of me too, I will officialy be my own boss effective in January and I'm quite exited about it!! Sooo much details you need to think of but it should be fine! I too have something that I'm working on beside work but just to early to say anything. I promise I'll come back here and share with you all!! :D

Glad to see you again Luly :D

Hi Luly...... I already heard your song and commented and told you my resolution but I wanted to pop over here and send you another holler.

I remember when you first came to this sight and you dealt with that member who was so obnoxious..... you stood your ground and you gained alot of respect from alot of us here right off the bat!!. You were strong and kicked some major butt!! So I know you can handle yourself quite nicely if the need arises!! LOL!!....

You have a great talent and you are a terrific person... You deserve success and as long as you keep your courage ..nothing should stop you now!! :D Good for you for acting on your dreams!!!!....

As for you Gilly... You look wonderful!!! I have to constantly watch what eat!!! I watch it, then I eat it!! LOL.. Seriously...you look great!

Hey Sher! I'm not planning on being on Star Search, but one never knows! Don't worry, if I'm on national tv, I'll certainly let you guys know!

Ms Milo, I wish I had your problem! I've always had to watch my weight, best way is to exercise. I remember doing the Jane Fonda videos, lol! Yep, I'm showing my age now for sure!

Micky, being your own boss is so liberating yet confining at the same time! I speak to small business owners all day everyday and I hear their trials and tribulations as well as successes. This will be a very exciting venture and I admire you for that as well as congratulate you!

Dona, thanks so much for that huge vote of confidence! I'm a real wuss when it comes to certain things, but I hate disrespect and unfairness. For that I'll stand up and deliver a strong message to back off. I know in the music business you have to be real strong and persistent. And be able to take a lot of rejection. Nothing ventured, nothing gained right?

Ok, I wanna hear more resolutions!!

Oh! You all made me cry:) I was so upset today, thinking, that I didn't accomplish my new years res. from LAST year, and now, here comes 2005, and I am still "fat". I tried SO hard to get to "goal" before xmas, and was just... down. I wanted to go back to nova scotia, and surprise people. You all perked me up:) Thanks;)

Thanks Luly:) Gawd, knows, GILLY can't shut the haell up:)

Sheree- yes:) puka shell:) Lol, I used to have a MILLION of them, my parents went on vacation, and brought a lot back for me (I am obsessed with jewelry, but casual, unflashy stuff) However, that particular one suffered a Skylah fate:)

Miss milo- Actually, One day, last year, on a whim, I bought a digital scale, brought it home, and got on it. IT said 215. I screamed. Justy came running, and that minute, i went on a diet. Within the first month, I dropped almost 20 lbs. Lol. I had NO idea I was that heavy, not a clue. Esp, when I was used to being so tiny, and eating, pretty much what I wanted, all my life. (I was a vegetarian for 18 years though.... that was one change, after justy, he got me into eating animals;)

And Jeanne? the boob job? Trust me:) I went from a C, to an E,(yes, an E) in one year. Now, I lost the weight, and am down to a B... down, being the important word here.. like, down to my TOES. lol.

Dona- Lol:) I watch what OTHER people eat... and drroooooollll:) Lol, not really:) I am really happy with what I eat. For example, haven't had sugar in a year now. Not even a taste. Luckily, I wasn't a sweets fan:)

Sorry for babbling. I am talking alot now, to make up for my trying to talk less NEXT year. Lol.

gilly, I think you looked fine at 215! But to me, fuller is often "better"! LOL!

Congrats on what you wanted!

Matt

P.S. Luly, ya got me curious... congrats on what you got working for ya. Dreams and ambition is always a good thing, especially rooted in common sense. In the old traditional way of the theater, "break a leg" for the best wishes to ya!

Luly... Can't wait to hear about your plan.... that is.... IF you tell us!! Congrats! yah... I really gotta conquer my fears too....
I think my biggest regrets are not tryin' out for Canadian Idol... It's been here twice (well ONCE here, but once only 3 hrs away) and Both times I had the application filled out and all ready to go... then I chickened out!! I know I wouldn't make it very far... THAT'S fer sure, but it would have been a hell of an experience... and it would have been cool to see if I'd at least get past the first audition.. ya know? Anyways... so... who knows? maybe I'll audition in 2005.

Not that I ever want to sing professionaly or anythin like that... but it sure would be fun!

and GILLY!! Holy smokes, girl!! 70 POUNDS?!? That's incredible! But I totally agree with everyone on how well you carried your weight... You must be really tall or sumpthin, cuz you sure didn't look 215 lbs.. You don't look 150 either!! you teeny tiny girl you!! The most weight I've ever lost (on purpose) was about 20 lbs... and I didn't see a flippin difference, so I lost my enthusiasm and gave up...
When I was in my clubbin days tho... I lost a TON of weight from dancin' all night long... didn't even realize I was losin untill all of a sudden I was a size 3 from a 9! worked out to about 45 lbs or sumpthin....... all came back tho when I quit ma rebelious days! LOL! ah such is life! anyways.... d'ya think I babble much?? LMAO! Tell Justy you've got some competition!! (in the babbling dept... NOT the weight-loss dept! LMAO!) should I shut-up now?? no? ...... ok...... how 'bout now? .......um..... now? not yet? ok......

NOW?

Luly! :) Hiya hun! Gosh, I've been out of town and just plain busy these past couple of weeks so I haven't been around much, but I have time today so I just wanted to say that I'm so glad to see you around here, and so proud that you are taking whatever steps necessary to at least try and reach your goals.

I TOTALLY understand what you mean by the letting the fear stop you... My problems tie in to Gilly's success story too. GILLY! OMG I'm so jealous of you lol. But extremely impressed and inspired by your success!! You go Girl! .. and just for the record, I too thought that you carried the weight VERY well.. you must be a tall girl cuz you did NOT look like you weighed that much!

Anyways, I have been avoiding going for my dreams as well. I sit here day to day wishing I was somewhere else and doing SOMETHING with my life. Sometimes I feel like I'm such a waste of space and I can't figure out WHY I am here... I'll tell you that I am quite overweight and miserable about it. I feel like I have no chance at doing what I love because of it, and it is extrememely depressing to feel that way. It has kept me self conscience and shy about trying to sing professionally. It's a killer to my self confidence, and now I feel like I am caught in this horrible cycle... I get depressed because I'm dying to be a singer and because I loathe my weight and that depression causes me to not want to do anything and eat more.. so I get bigger, so I get more depressed.. and so on and so on. I can't believe I'm divulging this much about myself, but I guess some things both you and Gilly said definitely resonated with me....

I don't know if I'll ever find the strength within me to do something about it like you and Gilly have, but I keep praying that I will. I'll stop now before I get crying here. I think you are both wonderful to be going for your goals, and I wish you both the very best of sucess in achieving them...

Love,
Elisha

Weight loss is such a difficult thing to do and even more difficult to maintain... especially for women... we've got a hormonal challenge!!! I'm sure "losing weight" is THE most popular resolution made (and broken) every year... I KNOW .... my gym is ALWAYS packed on January 2nd heheh... and by February... it's back to normal again!

Miss Milo wrote:

Heheh... couldn't resist! I'm sooo jealous!!!! Wish I had that problem!!!
*fantasy scenario~I'm in a dressing room* Imageooo{DANG!! This size 5 is too big!!!!)

OMGosh Elisha... that post made ME cry!!! You should not let anything stop you!!!! Don't wait to lose weight or anything else.... just do it!! I think it took a lot of guts to do the AI thing.... that was just one more experience for you to put under your belt and get you to the next level. You have such amazing talent... don't let something like losing weight cost you precious time... be proud of your amazing voice and let your dreams guide you. There's a quote from Norman Vincent Peale "Throw your heart over the bar and your body will follow".... that's so true!!! Whether you make it or not... you'll never regret following your dreams! BTW... welcome back!! You'll have to post some pic's of the wedding!!!

Luly... I'm still dyin' of curiosity girl!! I'm so excited for you.... whatever it is!! You are another amazingly talented lady... I have my fingers crossed for ya!!!!

Jose.... a firefighter? Wow.... that is GREAT!!! That is such an admirable career choice... congrats!!!

I think we all struggle with fears... they keep us from the unknown... our fears keep us comfy and secure in our safe little world... not taking risks. I think it's a huge step to take to conquer and overcome them!! But only success can give you more confidence... so I say "fake it till ya make it"
