Watching this, it makes me want to record the mix at some of my venues. I know it sounds different on a line out recording vs an open air recording, but talk about Reverb Abuse!

Yikes. I'm an effect junkie, and even I think that's too much...
Whole thing sounded bad. :/

Corded mics?? And they look like crap, too. You would think a place like that would have the finest state-of-the-equipment, as in, the best wireless mics. I'm surprised.

Did the whole bar shut down? Or just karaoke at the bar?
I would think that with a history and clientele like that, KJ's would be tripping over each other to get in there.
Maybe I should make a call.....

Maybe I should make a call..... If I remember correctly, the whole bar. The building is being turned into something else, and the owner mentioned looking to reopen somewhere else at some point. ... No, *you* have a karaoke Google News Alert that you check daily. I can stop anytime.

Maybe I should make a call..... Gee Chris, I thought you had more class then to do a show at such a dump as Dim's was. It will become a "WHOLE FOODS" and a condo (the whole block). Of course I don't have any class ether, I sang there many times!!

I wouldn’t mind playing there just to claim bragging rights. Since the announcement of Dim’s impending closure the place has been packed they have to add Sunday to accommodate an influx of customers. From L.A. Daily News: “The iconic Dimples, billed as “America’s first karaoke bar” and known for its clutter of Hollywood memorabilia, is preparing to close its doors to make way for the Talaria project at Burbank. The $165-million mixed-use project, which was approved by the City Council in October, will boast four levels of luxury apartments atop a 43,000-square-foot Whole Foods market. Since word of its impending closure has spread, the venue has been packed most weekend nights, with patrons sometimes having to wait outside so as not to surpass the venue’s 150-person capacity.”More info: http://www.dailynews.com/business/20150 ... -of-an-era

My favorite karaoke bars are all dives.
I agree with Brian - Just to say I worked at the first ever US karaoke bar. That is street cred you just can't pass up. Plus, if I can raise the bar, then all the better!

I went to YouTube and watched a few videos after the Bar Rescue crew had done their magic. The layout seems to be better but not much else. It definitely could have redone been a lot better.

The bar was way too small for two bar tenders. The DJ/KJ both is way off to the side (left of stage) 15' or so. He can't see without the TV monitors. I had fun, but glad I don't go anymore.

Columns are an easy fix if someone else is paying for it. Put in a steel beam and boom, totally open concept. -James
