Anyone ever buy from them?

I just purchased a SC disc, SC8761, Hits Of Billy Joel, Vol. 2. The disc appears to be a copy; not an original. I'm not 100% positive.

The data side of the disc looks blue rather than silver; the printed side just doesn't look like an original; the inserts seem like they're printed on cheap paper albeit by a rather high quality printer.

Also, on the printed side, bottom center, below the SC logo, it says,

Compiled and produced
By FCS - Mediaplas
PO Box 100, New Milton
Hants BH257XQ
United Kingdom
fsc@mediaplas.com
www.soundchoice.com

When I try to visit www.mediaplas.com, I get "Directory Listing Denied. This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed.

Any ideas?

I have some SC discs that have that info printed on them and according to Kurt via Harrington, they are legit. They do look fake because they aren't pressed and they are silk screened onto a white face rather than a silver face. Relax you are OK. Also a friend of mine purchased some discs from the Singalongcenter and some of his were as you described. They too were legit.

Over 3 years ago I bought sc8941 from doowop.com with the same info you described from uk printed on the disc plate. Looks like a copied disc so I brought my worries & concern to sc (their website was still operational at the time  ).

Here’s their answer: “Hi Brian - Yes, it’s a legitimate disc. In an effort to bring back more “out of print” Sound Choice titles that had been discontinued due to expired licenses or low sales, our UK branch is licensing the songs through MCPS (which is easier and less expensive than US publishers and allows for world-wide distribution). We import and distribute limited quantities of these discs. Thank you for your diligence in being certain you are getting genuine Sound Choice products”.

My oh my, how times have changed. Those were the good ol’ days!

Mediaplas is the UK company that produced SC discs for reasons best explained in the "legality " forum, but a disc marked that way may well be an original. The fact that mediaplas can no longer be reached- again, the "legality forum "
