I am considering streaming my karaoke show from one particular venue through the http://Twitch.tv service. Anyone else use this or any other service? Best Practices?

What would be the legalities of that. I can see copyright infringement right off the bat.

The Cat's Meow in New Orleans is probably one of the best known karaoke venues nationally, and they have been streaming their singers and posting performances on YouTube for over a decade without any ramifications that I know of.

I am sure there are some legal considerations, but I am not too concerned with them. I am going to stream live, not record, so it won't get saved anywhere unless a remote viewer does it.
The venue is unique in that it is a gamer/nerd/tech bar. They cater to that crowd and have super-fast internet that would allow me to stream in HD. They already do it for their Rock Band Karaoke show.

Oh.....I do not play on showing any lyrics screen btw. Just the stage with the Singers and perhaps the DJ booth in the background.

It's something I've wanted to do for years as well.

As long as you are not making a new recording of the song I think you're ok. Now the other thing would be are both the venue you stream from, and the venue you stream to paying the PRO's?

If I remember right, If you do not show the singers screen you can stream the singers them selves. Don't forget Dimples in LA (I wish I could )

Will do. I am speaking to the venue about it this weekend. I am pretty sure they are down with it. I am still waiting on gear to arrive (ordered 4 weeks ago) for this venue and have a lot of plans for it due to the themed nature of the location.

If this gig goes well for you, I might try to make it out to it. The better half wants to do a west coast vacation this spring, so we might do a Oregon/Washington type of thing.
