I finally heard the first part of this. There is nothing wrong with the non-enhanced vocal she laid down. She's in a dead studio singing directly into a mic. She is being fed a wet, compressed version in her head phones and that's what she is working with. Singing straight into a mic in a dead room means there is no natural reverb or echo. Even when talking to someone we can adjust our voice based on the acoustics of a room. If she were singing this in a room to you with just the room to work with she would naturally adjust. But in this case, she is "blind" to how the vocal sounds directly in a mic in a dead room.

No. Britney is just a horrible singer. Look.....Every few weeks I catch myself going flat or sharp. But I don't think I have ever sung that far off for a full 3-4 minutes. She is supposed to be a highly paid professional. We all know that she is who she is for her look, dance, and performance....NOT for her awesome singing ability.

My POINT. We have NO idea if what is on the recording is also what was in her headphones. chrisavis wrote: No. Britney is just a horrible singer. You missed the point. When flying blind as described by Mr. Boo above, you don't KNOW you are off. In fact, you probably think you are ON the whole time. chrisavis wrote: We all know that she is who she is for her look, dance, and performance....NOT for her awesome singing ability. Of course. But, she can sing as evidenced by the video's of her as a kid on Star Search (Pre Auto-tune). Unless you are claiming she somehow lost this ability and went from singing very well to tone deaf in 20 years.

chrisavis wrote: Britney Spears under fire for using Sia's vocals during performancehttp://music.msn.com/music/article.aspx ... d=ansent11 Britney Spears is under fire for using backing vocals by Sia during a peformance at her Las Vegas residency show. The pop star currently in the middle of her two-year stint at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, and during a recent performance, a fan recorded her singing a new version of her song "Perfume," and posted a clip on Instagram. However, Billboard.com points out that it was songwriter Sia's vocals the crowd mostly heard, and not Spears'. While Sia is one of the co-writers on the track, a few non-official demo versions of the singer singing "Perfume" can be found online, and her vocals are the ones Spears lip synced over during the Sin City show. Billboard suggested Spears uses Sia's track as an in-monitor guide when she sings, however the backing vocals were accidentally used as the house mix which the audience heard. The gaffe comes weeks after Spears came under scrutiny when a raw clip of her 2013 song "Alien" surfaced online, prompting critics to mock the singer's out-of-tune vocals. Perhaps we should move this thread to "Legalities".

Honestly, I am surprised she sings at all while performing! Have you seen clips of her show? Its like a frickin' aerobics class. I thought it was pretty well known that any hardcore dance-pop artist, Madonna, Katy Perry, Janet Jackson, Rihanna, Britney Spears, etc, is doing some form of lip syncing while jumping around. With rare exception, it's practically impossible to have the breath to sing to concert standards AND dance your a$$ off simultaneously.
