Here was an interesting thing that happened to me tonight....................I am single............yeah I know my avatar would say otherwise, but her and I broke up back in January. I just haven't gotten around to change the picture.
Anyway, I was running show, and one of my regular, female, singers, comes up to me, and plants one on my lips, out of nowhere. She's also a friend of mine. A bit later, I walk past her, and I gave her a peck, back, just to return the favor. She grabs me and just about kisses the Hell out of me!! AWESOME kiss, to say the least!! Between just being a singer, and being a host, this has NEVER happened to me, before!! It was quite the nice surprise. Pretty much made my evening.

Anyone else have have any interesting things happen to you, during a show??

I occasionally work at a location that some consider a lesbian bar. There are a lot of lesbians as well as gay men that come in, but it is not a lesbian or gay bar. It is just an awesome bar.

I have been oggled, kissed, fondled, and propositioned. Unlike a bar with primarily heterosexual clientele, I have never felt uncomfortable or threatened by any of it.

The first time I came home with lipstick on my cheek, I had some splainin' to do with the wife. Now she raises an eyebrow if I don't come home with any.

that's how I meet my current wife. lol

she sent a friend to tell me to go out in the hallway and she proceeded to grab me and
kiss me. I was surprised but I guess I had been flirting with her, of course I didn't think
so.

long story short 1 1/2 later we were married and have been together 8yrs now.

Met my wife at a birthday party being held at the karaoke bar I frequented. I was separated at the time and had no interest in getting involved with anyone. We struck up a conversation and drank a lot. Even at the end of the night, when I was simply being a gentleman and walked her out to her car, I still had zero romantic interest in her.

Then she hugged me and bit me. Hard.

That was Jan 6th, 2001.

We have lived together since our first date which was Jan 27th, 2001

That's a pretty interesting story.

So apparently you like being bitten. I could be wrong, but I don't think Evander Holyfield asked Mike Tyson to move in after he bit him.

He evidently did not bite the correct body part.

We probably need to define "bite." I enjoy a nice firm nibble, but anything that leaves teeth marks just doesn't do it for me. Pain doesn't belong in my bedroom, though I've heard some quite like it 8)

Chris, you just opened a Pandora’s box & henceforth will generate a lot of comments. (I’m truly referring to Pandora’s box, not something else) And we also know you’re a good sport who can appreciate a good joke or two.

When my wife & I were dating during our younger years, mild biting is part of our “repertoire”. Now that we’re older & we’re both wearing partial dentures, that kind of activity no longer exist. Biting is now reserved for food, i.e., tough meat such as steak, tough oysters………… LMAO

hahaha

Alan B - That is the short version. We need a KJ Summit so I can verbalize the long version. Some things I just don't put in print. :)

TopherM - I didn't ask to be bitten and it has never happened since. It did leave a mark though. We get a good chuckle out of telling the story though. My version of it goes "I knew when she bit me that I should have run away and never looked back".

Brian A. - Ahhhh Pandora....I remember....oh never mind. I love a good story and a good joke. I know I come across super serious in the forums much of the time, but I have always been the class clown, goofball at the party kind of guy. Probably a bunch of us are since that translates well into what we do.

Seriously......we need a KJ Summit. I will volunteer my place on the west coast.

Yeah, when running shows, I find it's part technical, obviously, part being social, and part being a comedian. Having a bit of comedic talent goes a long way to making sure people have fun.

All part of the job. I'm a fairly ugly guy (fight pro for a few years and even a model will ugly up....) yet get more offers than can be imagined. I chalk it up to low light, drunken females, and a decent personality, but one has to add being the guy in front in practicality.

My point is, don't take it personally. It will not only protect your job, it will protect your heart.

Don't crap where you eat.......

This is the difference between being a male and female host. I know there are some females out there who vamp it up (I know of one company who's claim to fame is comely young females in skimpy outfits and heels) but I'm careful in what I project. For one thing, a female has to make friends with the other females and not act in any way like they want to steal their man. Otherwise you have a room full of men. For another, I'm loading out by myself in the wee morning hours so I don't send out any invitations I don't want answered. If men were grabbing me and kissing me and biting me during shows I might feel a bit threatened.

But yes--I've had a few women get me but it was pretty obvious it was a joke.

I have three female hosts working for me, and I can't help but be concerned about them. Men are pigs. At 2am, we are drunken pigs. Fortunately, each of them work at venues that we have great relationships with and where many of the regulars keep an eye on things.

At my downtown bar, we have a guy who sings Purple Rain. He does it well and is almost always a crowd pleaser. I have a DMX light controller and used to have a fog machine so I would set the mood with fog and a purple wash of lights for him.

One night he asked for the song and I fogged the room, darkened it for extra mood and purpled it out. When I looked up from my boards, he wasn't on stage, but he has made grand entrances before so I didn't think anything of it.

Just before the "I didn't mean to cause you any sorrow...." he runs in from the other room wearing only his Fruit-of-the-Looms. Performed the whole thing in his grape smugglers. It was one of the more memorable performances I have seen at any karaoke show.

Last night I had a new singer take a lot longer than normal to get to the stage, and I announced that if he didn't get up there right away I was going to send someone to break his arms... moments later he shows up on the stage with a cast on his arm. The audience went crazy with laughter. Then he bit me

Now all you have to do is marry him to have the same storybook ending I have! :)

I have a story book story which does not include broken arms or biting (maybe a little nibbling). I too met my wife at karaoke 15 1/2 years ago and it was her first time ever at karaoke. It was Feb 13,1999 at 9:00PM and there she was sitting there with an empty chair right next to her in a room full of people. I ordered something to eat and ate none of it.... I was smitten. At midnight we walked out together to her car and she offered to drive me to mine, about a block away. I gave her a kiss in the car and she said "well that's enough for tonight". We saw each other every day after that and were married 5 months later.

She knows more than she wants to know about karaoke now.
