It seems that every few weeks my wife and I and a group of our friends end up in a Karaoke booth. I suggested to my wife that maybe we should get a Karaoke machine for the apartment. I did some research and I decided to get a RSQ Echo_Plus. We don't need anything too extravagant, but certainly something that was good quality. Another factor is that it needs to be protable, in that, we want to be able to hide the system when not in use. We already have as much A/V equipment in the livingroom as we want. So, as I said, I had decided on the RSQ. Then my wife asks me if it has a Changer, so we don't have to change the disc everytime we play a new song. She's used to the Karaoke boothes where you just punch in number after number and the song comes up. She thinks it will be too annoying to change the disc after every song.
SO, my question. Is there a solution that would allow for all of this?
1: Portable
2: Adequate sound
3: Server or cd changer

Are there things I'm missing? I have a laptop that I could use if that's part of the solution. Can you burn CDG's onto a computer? We're willing to spend up to 800 on the system.
If the RSQ is my best option, the two microphones that come with the RSQ, how long are they.
ANy help would be much appreciated. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed.

One last thing, I was thinking of ordering the "Hot Stuff Party Pak 1-2-3" CDG's It seems like a good starting point. I there another package that would be better to start with?

There is a model of the RSQ echo pro which has the triple tray player. Check the on-line Karaoke sites like DTSkaraoke. You may also want to look at a Cavs player or a unit that plays super CDGs ( if your wife really likes the "punch in a number" scenario and not have to worry about changing discs frequently (if ever)).

When I first started out, I bought the Hot Stuff paks and I still use a lot of them today. They are not as good as Sound Choice, but they cost a fraction of the price. By and large they are much better than many other inexpensive starter sets. When you consider the price point, they are even better. For home use they are an ideal starter set. They cover a broad range of music and most of your guests should find something they want to sing.

I cannot comment on the mics that ship with the unit. However, a cordless mic it always nice to have. I have heard good things (for home use) regarding the Audio Technica wirless that Radio Shack sells for $100.00. If that is not an option go with a good quality wired mic from brands such as Sennheiser, Shure, Audio Technica, etc. I am not a fan of Samson mics but that is highly subjective ( as are all of my opinions). Don't waste money on those $50.00 wireless mics. They are useless.
