Does anyone have any house rules for karaoke? I keep mine pretty relaxed and I just advise that there is a table for drinks at the side of the stage and an ashtray for cigs although I let people hold their cigs while they sing if they wish.

Have fun!

Tribal spots are still smoking spots usually. The club I work still is. ALL the tribal casinos are still smoking.

Here in Texas, it's still up to the communities. Austin's a no smoking town, but the majority of the places I work in, in the small towns surrounding, are smoking.

American Legion Halls are also notorious for smoking. They seem to be exempt from the State smoking laws (at least in seems that way in NY).

I gave up two steady weekly gigs at the Eagle Clubs down here in SW Florida that were smoking friendly establishments. My equipment; including speakers, props, board, computer, books, etc. wreaked of cigarettes after just a few shows. I mean, I smoke and couldn't believe how just a few shows could make all my equipment smell so rank. (imagine my lungs, right?)

I had to wash all my equipment completely, (incl taking speaker covers off, febreezing all my props in the front yard, etc) it was unbelievable. I actually considered having a separate rig for just smoking gigs but the wife vetoed me.

I'm in MN. "The state where absolutely nothing is allowed!"
I guess some of the Tribal casinos allow smoking yet, but some don't.
The American Legions and the VFWs are NOT exempt from the statewide smoking ban.
Smoking is banned in the parks. Smoking is banned within 25 feet of any business entrance or exit door. E cigs have even been banned in Mpls. and other communities.(it looks as though someone might be enjoying themselves - can't have that) In some communities you can't even smoke in a "Smoke Shop"

Have fun!

Nailed it, with one addition - no racial or religeous slurs.

Not a rule, technically, but no bumps. Don't try to bribe me, if you are female whatever you offer isn't going to do it, don't tell me about your babysitter or how many people are there to hear you sing. Have to leave in five minutes ( invarioubly a lie)? Goodnight, you've spent what you were going to spend.

Not gonna bump you.

I haven't had an incident yet that would cause me to print the no racial/religious slurs in my books. This particular one is a fine line to walk, especially the race aspect. Some people consider white people sing songs with the "N" word to fall into that category. I do not.

The only song that makes me even remotely squeamish in this regard is "The Rodeo Song".

I will never understand why so many people hate Nickelback. They are a good, solid hard rock band.

Everyone has a favorite Nickelback song that they won't admit to loving.

I just happen to have 6 or so, though I will deny it unto my deathbed.
