So there's 20 or more singers in tonight's rotation...
And this ONE singer thinks he or she isn't getting to sing soon enough or often enough...
And so they come up to you three or four times askin': "when am I up", clearly hoping to influence me to move them up.
Let me tell you, this singer could be a top 10 finalist on the Voice.
Still...move 'em ahead of others? I won't do it. Not for anyone.
But I don't get angry. I warn them that if they ask again I'm going to bump them 5 slots.
And then when they come up again, that's what I do.
The owner get very angry about this, because you KNOW the diva is going to complain and lie about what really happened. But I told the owner "the Diva or me, you choose," because I am not going to back down from this one inch.
(I'm still there, the bar is still packed, and this diva stills comes up to the stand, just a lot more politely.)

update
that dude that i yelled at came back tonight. ha.
he sang 3 songs. and of course he asked if i would play his cd. i said no.
if i see him again, i'll tell him i've seen him 2x now, he has 3 more visits to make 5 and then i'll play a cut from his CD
trust me, i've played so many of his songs and catered to him in the past for free, it's payback time

Stop banging on my Mics, I'll turn it on over here, obviously hitting it is not the volume control A-hole!

Oh yeah that's a good 3 1/2-4 hour drive depending on how you drive. Lonman's wireless mics are good, but they won't reach to Wilbur!

Well, I really can't say that I was rude, but: Had a guy in the bar tonight that was so drunk he crapped himself.
Didn't let him sing.

I went to my area's longest running high quality karaoke show last night to help a "fill in host" run the show. The fill in had about 2 hours of training the week before and has never run a show before last night. This venue is using a Presonus StudioLive 16.4.2, which is VERY different than my analog mixer. Everything that could go wrong went wrong and the show started 20 minutes late and took another 30 minutes to get dialed in. On top of that the rig uses a DJ program program with no rotation management and keeps track of rotation on a word pad. The problems started when 2 large groups of over indulging 20 somethings started to sing. They could not sing and loved to yell and scream at the top of their lungs. Even with the mics turned off they were extremely loud. At one point one of the guys got down on all fours and the singer road on his back. The fill in host was way younger than I and took it better than I. There were several people that came up to me and asked me to do something, and I told them that their mics aren't even turned on and they couldn't hardly believe it! Then they sang Baby's Got back!!!!!!!! I am going back again tonight to assist the fill in host and I'm leaving my gun at home (I don't actually own one)

Didn't let him sing. We've had pissers in the bar, don't think I ever remember a crapper.
