Does the GEM series contain all of the songs that were out on the original Sound Choice series CD's?

(I have looked into the "Karaoke Cloud" service, but it seems there are no Sound Choice songs, and most of the tracks from their listed 'providers' are no where near the SC versions.)

For the most part yes, but I wouldn't say that all of the original catalog made the GEM series but alot of them did.

They list the GEM as 6000 songs, and offer additional CDG's for a total of 7200. Perhaps that's the only way to get them all?

In response, are you a KJ now, or plan to be using the set in a Professional KJ setting in the near future? There is a provision in the licenses that stipulate that all GEM Sales are restricted to Professional KJ. However, you might want to call them up and get a more accurate answer.

No. If you want more or all the Sound Choice original cdg's you will have to do some digging and find them on craigslist and eBay and amazon.com and in stores. The Gem series is " the most popular " of the SC listing. It's realy the only one's that (SC) has left.

Capt. Kirk is correct. There are a lot of tracks from the CDG collecton that are not included with GEMS.

soundchoice made around 18,000 tracks total. there are only 6,000 on the gem. so no, not even close. most of their discs haven't been in print for some time, so I wouldn't hold up any hope on being able to obtain them all, if that's what you were hoping. Not unless someone who has been in the industry for 20+ years decides to retire and sell.

good luck

As jclayden said no, not even close to being their entire catalog. However they are more of the 6000 more requested songs (in most areas) in their entire catalog.
That being said it's one of the best quality 'core' selections you can get. Yes gaps will need to be filled and picked up as you get to know your singers and what they want other than the core.

One of our members, Audioprola aka John, has the entire spotlight series and according to SC he does not have every song because some are included only in 2000 or 3000 or specialty song packs.

Well, I happen to have the LED ZEPPELIN SoundChoice CD, now that you've mentioned it. Spotlight CDG 8674 - Hits of Led Zeppelin - Vol 2. Anyone interested?

Zeppelin is a karaoke no fly list band so that would be expected. Sinatra - not a high priority in our show, but would get those from Pocket Songs anyway - that would be one of those artists that would be got after getting to know what the show commands.

I compared the GEM series to everything that's been sung at my show since I started tracking and over 65% of the titles get done or have been done. Your mileage may vary.

Plenty of Sinatra, at least the ones that get sung anyway. Same with Zeppelin.

He probably never checked and just wanted to slam SC. Even without those two artists, there is plenty of hits to sing off of. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

There are 20 Led Zeppelin Tracks in the GEM 6000 Pack
There are 19 Frank Sinatra tracks in the GEM 6000 Pack

Anything else you need FACTS on concerning the GEM series?

EDIT - Oops. I see others called this out already.

Spent 30 minutes trying to find the Cat for Gem series by artist but nowhere to be found. I remember looking to buy it awhile back but My Way and Nobody's Fault But Mine, were missing.

"My Way" is on disc number 60 (diamond set), track 17.

According to Icroons... there is no song titled "Nobody's Fault But Mine" in karaoke format.

So those two songs formed your opinion of the 6000 song GEM series as "junk"?

Get real.

No company has Nobody's Fault But Mine - never made into karaoke.
