<posting this from my cell phone while driving across the 520 bridge drinking a beer, smoking a doob, and manhandling a double whopper with cheese, onion rings and a large orange drink all while driving with my knees>

...and your point is?

I don't care where the mixer is in relation to the PC. I am just as adept at screwing it up regardless of the configuration. :)

For me, it depends on how I have to set up. I use two computers. One for tunes and one for Karaoke. The Karaoke computer sits on top of the case with the CD+G player, the compressor, the power conditioner, and my two Lexicon Alphas. Depending on the venue I have to set up with the karaoke on the left, or on the right. I can work the board the same, regardless of what side it's on.

I like to thank u guys I bet a pal of mine 20.00 $ that u guys would post back just the way u did thanks for the 20

You're welcome.

So you bet him $20 that we would post our honest opinions about you firing your kjs for using facebook on the job? It's the internet. Not everyone is going to agree with you, especially on something as outdated and backwards as that.

But it's your business. You certainly have the right to stop your kjs from using the internet on the job and you can totally fire them for it too, but you can't fire me... hahaha. I use the internet to give me a competitive edge over guys like you all the time.

It's also my right to keep my karaoke fan base updated on what I'm doing and make posts that entice them to come out to the show. I can't tell you how many times I have posted a pic of my regulars having a great time at my show and then more people come to my show and tell me, "Yeah, I saw the pic you posted on facebook, so I came out. Thanks for the reminder!" Happens all the time...

...but you wouldn't know anything about that.

Those who embrace change, reinvent and roll with the times, survive. Those who resist and fight it, ultimately fail.

Enjoy your $20. You earned it.

What I'm finding is, law or no law, employers are starting to tell their bartenders they can't drink on the job. It seems to be more insurance/liability driven. So I take my cue from that and if the bartenders aren't supposed to drink than I don't.

It does seem to take away from the party atmosphere a bit.

As for texting, it is now part of the bartender's job out here to collect as many phone numbers as possible to send out mass texts about what is happening. But I have to be careful about what is posted on facebook because many have expressed that they don't want their photos up due to potential employers seeing them in a bar or various other reasons. The younguns may post selfies all night but the older people seem to value their privacy or at least what is left of it.

You bring up a good point leopard. I ask permission to take and post pictures now. If you are out with your girlfriend/boyfriend and don't want your wife/husband to know, I don't want to be the one that bursts that bubble. As you noted, some employers get a little pissy if they see employees enjoying themselves.

On the flip side, I am considering posting a notice at a couple of venues along the lines of "By entering these premises, you agree that you picture or likeness may be posted online in promotional materials."

The internet is also good to help find songs for people that only have a lyric or too. How many times have you heard, "I wanna sing that song that goes ______ -______ ______ ______" I can easily type in that line with lyrics in a Google search & high majority of the time, the song they are looking for pops up! Internet is actually a great tool at a show.
Seeing if a requested song is available on karaoke at all. If it is or isn't I can let them know right then & there.

Well if that was your goal, then your basically trolling. I was explaining the benefits of using the internet and/or phone at a show. That's not going toe to toe, that is just talking about pro's/cons.

The only one upset in here is you.
You have said nothing in here that could possibly make me upset.
Have a nice day. :)

Hmmm... One more vote/reason for an "Ignore" button... That's two in one week.
