Just heard on the news that Disney is releasing 9 karaoke tracks
from "Frozen". Nothing new there, they have been producing their
own karaoke for some time.

However, this version is not only meant to be sung with in
standard karaoke manner. It is also made to have the singer
RECORD their voice with the sound track.

Now, I don't know if this version is a standard disc, or if
it employs a different tech ( download? other?) to enhance
the recording process.

What do know is that I haven't heard of mfrs. ENCOURAGING
an y re-recording of their products, especially when mixing in the
singer's voice.

Anyone else know anything about this?

Unless they are supplying the equipment to do it, I so no way that could even be possible. No player will record & unless you are set up TO record in some manner (line from the mixers tape out or some other method to a computer or tape machine) - that would be the only way to do so.

Maybe it comes with a small CDG/Tape Deck combo?

Doesn't look like it has the graphics. Not a deal breaker, unless you are like me and only had little girls asking about it this past weekend and you've never even heard one note of any of it.

The recording part of it is an IPad app type thing.

For Joe, just search for "Disney to bring the magic of Frozen to."

For the rest, here is the link, I hope: http://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwmovies/ ... -20140529#

Thanks Double L, I'll take a look. The whole recording part just threw me for a loop.

I ordered the CD. I would let you know what I think of the quality, but I won't know what I am listening to. LOL

The Disney karaoke series is great. I have a few including the Frozen one. It's a CDG and it's the exact music tracks used in the movie, not a recreation.

Of course you have to understand the demographics Disney is going for, mostly children, not to mention they have the bucks to spend on a small market. To them their karaoke is just another merchandising device.

Got my Frozen @ Target. Definitely cdg (with graphics)!
1- 8: performance tracks
9 - 16: vocal version

Just cdg, no accessories or attachment capable of recording your voice

Never thought there were. It's that they not only encourage singers to record their performances using their track, but specifically state that they give permission.

I stopped recording at shows many years ago specifically because this practice was frowned upon.

Recording at home for personal use is one thing. Recording to make money is something slightly different. Even if you don't charge for the service at shows, you are using the recordings to gain an advantage.

you can record someone, but you need to have them sign a release saying they are responsible for paying all licensing fee's associated with the
recording. and keep a copy for your records.
