I've been there, jd. Gaslite Bar in Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica, karaoke nightly, place gets crowded weekdays, ‘sardine’ packed weekends. Wow, Jewel - she can crash my show anytime. :yum: Thanks for sharing!

Not really a big celebrity, but, Amanda Perez has been to our show several times. Some of her family were regulars at the bar before we started hosting the karaoke there. They sometimes celebrate family birthdays there and she will usually at least make an appearance. She has only sang once or twice, her song Angel, with her older sister doing background vocals (she used to tour with her.) No flash or fanfare, very low key.

Wizzard came to our local on karaoke night late last year for a quick drink after doing a show in town. I wasn't there at the time but my friend got a photo of them.

great thread. I posed this very question to my fellow DJs recently

so far, only local celebs crashed my gigs:

a female former radio personality that I grew up listening to in the '90s, visits about 3 times a year (I'd always hear her on the radio station I listened to). She may sing a song.

a professional DJ who currently spins at local clubs live during weekend broadcasts over the radio introduced himself while he was waiting for his order and told me I play good music. It made my month to hear that. I hear him spin live mixes on the radio all the time.

a beautiful young singer whose name I missed was once in a local band and is going solo. Everyone was in awe of her while she happened to stop by. She has her own song actually in karaoke and started crying while she sang it because she was in shock that it was in the book. I just happened to look it up when she mentioned the title. I'd love to see her again, she was very beautiful. And I completely missed what her name is. She's not super nationally known, though.

2 different members of 2 different legendary local bands in my area. Coincidentally, I happened to play their music while they happened to be in the room at that time. One of them was like "How did you know? That's me! I'm playing the percussions on the song you're playing!" I was like "Man, it's a coincidence! I had no idea." He was too happy. The other dude now comes weekly and promises he'll bring the entire band. I had him autograph one of their cds.

last but not least, one actress most of you know who was in a popular sitcom in the 90s and still is in TV shows and movies today, well, her dad was in the audience and gave me his cell number asking if I had any good singers he can recruit to tell his actress daughter.

another time, I was hosting trivia at a sports bar where my all-time favorite team, The Washington Redskins were already there playing pool. I can't remember if I played the "Redskins Theme" song or not? Probably not, otherwise I would've remembered. Because that's something I definitely do. They were playing pool. And they won their next football game which I knew they would because they were out as a team hanging out, that bond shows up on the field, I think.

This was just before Sean Taylor was murdered. I remember, because I noticed that he wasn't there that night playing pool. I didn't know at that time he was injured and back in Florida. Next thing I know he was shot and killed. But it was a strange omen to see the entire team there in public without him and next thing you know he dies.

My most recent celeb was one of the "Capitol One Viking" actors. Nice guy, insisted on playing his own harmonica on "Train Train" and killed it.

Whats in your wallet?
