Agree with all the others who say the show starts at starting time.

Also, if you show up at start time and the KJ makes you cool your heels for a half-hour before starting the show why would you ever show up early? I have noticed that shows that start early or right on time tend to have singers start showing up earlier.

I'll start when I have 5 singers in the que but until then I'll play filler music.
If I did that I would be starting more than 1 hour ahead of my advertised start. I send out an email to 200+ customers every week with pictures and venue info, and in the email I always mention what "the early start time" I had for the previous week. It varies from 15 to 35 minutes earlier than my posted 7 o'clock start time.
On weekend nights, most times we'll already have 5-10 slips on the counter waiting before I even walk in the door.
Lon, how early do you get to your show? I get to my show about 1 to 11/4 hour early (I set up the day before), and they attack me like piranha the minute they see me and I too have several slips on my rig. I only have a couple of singers that want to be first so that spot is open, but the next spots are fiercely defended

I wish I had film of last nights show.

I arrived 2 hours early just to catch up with regulars and friends because I had someone cover my shows last weekend so I could cover other shows. At 7:30, there was myself, a local, and the bartender in the bar. Not completely unusual except it was a very nice day in Seattle today, so I expected a few more people to be out and about.

I have a brand new laptop for this show, so I started setting up at 8pm (about a 1/2 hour earlier than usual) just to make sure all was well. I realize that I forgot to activate Karma, but that was the only tech issue I had.

The bar remained empty until 9:10 (show starts at 9:30) with just myself, the bartender and 2 other folks. At 9:10, the masses arrived - 2 birthday parties and a going away party. All of the parties had regulars that know me and the show which is why they came out to celebrate.

The bar went from 4 people to capacity in 10 minutes. It was literally like watching one of those gags where you see the clowns streaming out of a Volkswagen except it was a steady stream of people filling the bar for 10 minutes. We had to do last call a little early to ensure we could get everyone out in time.

GREAT night!

He could multi rig through one account at songbookdb. Cost him more than one rig bur under the same umbrella.

Just a heads up guys - accounts now include 8 rigs as standard, with one Requests login for all your DJs - they simply select which venue they're at when they log in.

So you can run exclusive shows (each receiving their own requests) in up to 8 venues at any one time.

Nice to see another company that listens and tried to adapts to their user requests. I may have to check this out as well! Even though I only run the one venue, I like that you keep your mind open to adding new features!
