What $375,000,000? BTW Joe have you ever negotiated for the right to reproduce music to create karaoke music?

Hard to believe a defense would exceed $375,000,000.00, but ok.

Gee, I knew you were innumerate but I thought it was limited to one or two orders of magnitude....

Tim, has anyone in Canada been sued over karaoke IP? I don't understand your constant injection of your views about our laws.

Unpleasantly put, but you are correct. Good catch. Should have read $375,000.00

Thanks, Micky57. My apologies for the error.

mrmarog, I wouldn't know. I don't spend my days looking at who has or has not been sued or for what. As for contributing, I have the same rights as anyone else on this board.

Even with the corrected amount paid out by this insurance company, it apparently needs to be said out loud that, since this was an insurance payout, the out-of-pocket had to be significantly lower than the amount needed to mount a defense. That being said, it makes you wonder how long an insurance company would want to accept premiums from a client whose effective income has allegedly been reduced so drastically and whose revenue streams have allegedly been severely diminished...

I noted with interest the other day that EMI has its own line of karaoke discs... I wonder if that may have anything to do with this lawsuit. Has anybody here seen one in use?

I have a trackunder the EMI/Windswept label that's on a compilation disc from a few years ago. I think it was a Frankie Valli track. At least that's what comes up on the title screen. Neither label shows up in the KJ Pro database though.

I have actually already commented on this.

The insurance company made the decision to settle. When you consider that CAVS sued for $15 million and settled for $375,000, what does that tell you?

(1) That Kurt was ONLY insured up to $375,000 ?

(2) That CAVS was afraid of a CB, DTE flim flam scam to get out of paying?

Just speculating like most here

John is probably more correct than we think!

If you sue for 15Mil and SC offers 375K cash now to settle what would a smart person do? If you don't take it you may never get a dime, so you take it. It's not as complicated as a lawyer would have you think. Gilligan's Island believers still exist, they believe whatever a lawyer will tell them if spun the correct way.

The Foundations and bricks may be for sale where they have old stock with dust on it but if the producer of it takes down a website that is 20 years old all of the sudden there is cause for speculation, unless you're brain-dead you must
conclude there is mischief afoot.

Once you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth! Sherlock Holmes.

Impossible- SC store has been down for over a month due to updating the site! Anyone with a brain knows you don't dismantle a website like that for an update.
Impossible- SC stopped printing Foundations and Bricks on their own accord!
Impossible- SC had a strong case to defend against CAVS suit!
Impossible- All Star just up and severed ties with SC at the same time SC discs disappeared from eBay for no practical reason! Karaoke warehouse sells no Sound Choice product at this time. SC disc that were purchased through KWH prior to, were directly delivered (drop shipped) from sound choice warehouse. I have products bought through them to prove this.
Impossible- SC and legal staff has suddenly started telling the truth! Highly improbable.

Improbable- Sc and Harrington have pulled the wool over KJ's eyes for years and have illegally produced almost every song in their library at some point in time and have now got to worry about massive counter suits dealing with their misuse of legal system and general misconduct.

Improbable- SC was forced to pull all Foundations and Bricks to avoid further suits against them and to appease the Plaintiff/Judge in one or more cases against them! Or by legal advise from Harrington.
Improbable- If SC in the future sells their Foundations and bricks they will not contain 40% or more of the songs your present sets do as of this printing.
Improbable- in this post means "More than Likely"
Improbable- SC former employees have filed affidavits concluding fowl play by Slep-Tone, including selling products unauthorized by copyright holders.
Improbable- A SC logo attached to an illegally produced track is still grounds to sue for trademark infringement! NOT

Does anyone see the similarities between what SC is doing and what CB did just before the big collapse?

CB started selling off all their stuff quickly at a discount then the web site went down and then CB was no more.

SC selling gems, foundations, etc at discounts, the web site is down and then ????

Cueball is no Sherlock, there's you're proof.

Does "Hook in Mouth" mean anything to you?

It should if you believe everything or anything the Slep's or Harrington has to say.

SC hasn't produced any CDGs for years. The stock had to run out some day.

Gems are still being sold via the website and not at fire sale prices.

Some retailers still have SC stock although it has become very limited.

It's kind of fun watching Sound Choice's slow demise. The best part is that Zoom is now starting to put out a number of songs that SC did, and are making MUCH better versions!! I will give you an example, I just picked up It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Want To Rock n Roll), from AC/DC. It's Zoom's version. What a complete and total difference between it and Sound Choice's version. It's SO much better, and more true to the original. Zoom's version of Back In Black is SPOT ON!! Everything I have gotten from them has beat the snot out of my old SC versions, both in sound quality and in representation of the original tracks. As for Country, I am finding SBI to be spot on.

I thought this notice on the bottom of their "under construction" web page was unusual:

If you are a professional Karaoke Host you can call us at 1-800-788-4487 and we will be happy to serve you by phone.

If you are a home consumer you can contact Karaoke Warehouse or Ace Karaoke. They carry the full line of available Sound Choice tracks.

We apologize for this inconvenience and promise to be back online as quickly as we can.

Maybe Kathleen Sebelius is the one working on their web site?

Sounds like BS;
Just because SC has been out of the recording end of Karaoke for years doesn't mean they sold the printing press. In other words that's about the dumbest %^&* i've ever heard! Lol

KWH has always drop shipped from the SC warehouse, don't believe me? just call them.

The Bricks and Foundations all sold out in the same week? Along with every Spotlight, Star, Power etc... Muahahaha lol LMFAO.

I'll bet you they are printing more discs this month than ever before so they can have plenty of retirement discs to sell after they are history. Ala Chartbusters. Notice all those CB disc still coming out of Tennessee? SoundCrooks have screwed every KJ prior to the law suits by making illegal discs and selling them to me and you! #$%^'em

Anyone buying a Gem set now is gambling with their money. I'd take my chances in Vegas before I trust the Slep brothers.

Cue, are you Psychic and haven't shared with us?

The poster has minimal history in these discussions and you are willing to decide and state whether he has proof or will share it? For that matter whether he even needs to, considering SC's record? Seriously?

Duplicate post - sorry. However, as long as I'm here I may as well ask: Why is it that if a host is dumb enough to pay a "settlement" to SC because he thought it would cost too much to fight he is labeled a pirate by the pro SC methodology folks, but if SC does THE EXACT SAME THING they come up with every explaination but that? I guess the have to keep the dream alive to protect themselves from self-embarrassment. News flash: Humans make mistakes. Let up on yourselves and move on...

This is directed to the Sound Choice haters:
After sitting here reading some of the comments about the suspected "slow demise" and how much "fun" you are having watching what you think is the final gasp of Sound Choice. How bad you want to see Kurt "bankrupt and homeless", shame on you! I suggest that you look at your karaoke inventory and whether you have just 1 track or thousands of their tracks, SC has made you money. Shame on you and you hypocritical attitudes. If you really hate them so bad, get rid of the tracks. Since the company is of no value to you, then the track(s) of theirs you possess are also of no value according to your posts so stay true your words. Jus sayin. BTW I will be glad to take any Sound Choice product off you hands so I relieve some of the pain and suffering you are enduring at the hands of SC, and Jim. That way you can continue your life awash of all you Karaoke troubles. Oh yea I will also help you with any CB inventory too.
Just trying to improve the quality of your lives. You know what they say about "one man's junk.......
