...Am guessing my first music cd purchase was probably a Journey Album.
...My first CDG was probably something Sound Choice. Wish I could remember the Disc Number.

It was 2 discs that I purchased together: Music Maestreo 6020 for "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" and Music Maestro 6047 for "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh"
And, I still sing from both of those discs.

I think it was legends 92 the hollies for the song "here comes my baby"
either that or it was a soundchoice disc of Crosby, Stills & Nash
I wasn't hosting back then, just wanted the songs..

I made the original order for the bar that had the equipment as I hosted for them before breaking out on my own.
Most notably the JVC Video disc series (UBEST tracks) with full motion video behind them. 54 discs with the ugliest sweaters, pyromaniacal bikers, ladies in bikinis riding bicycles and some weird Beatles look-alikes on most Beatles tracks.
They were MPEGS and multiplex off the discs. I will have to dig them out and see if my hosting software can remove the vocal channel from the file if I were to transfer them.

Not a host, but I can pretty much recall every first I purchased:
Vinyl Album: Michael Jackson, Thriller Vinyl Single: Genesis, "Invisible Touch" Cassette: Beastie Boys, Licensed to Ill CD: They Might Be Giants, Flood
Not sure regarding digital music. I think the first digital album I might have purchased was a nerdy rap album from a guy I met on a comic book forum.

My first karaoke disc purchase was a 10 disc Music Maestro party set that came with the purchase of a JVC 303 triple CDG disc player. Wish I still had that player! My first CD purchase was En Vogue's Funky Divas and Nirvana's Nevermind in 1992. I was giving the Columbia House CD club all of my money soon after, and have about 300 CDs at home that are worth just about nothing! EDIT: I also have about 1200 CDGs that are likewise worth about nothing!

First vinyl was "Meet The Beatles." First karaoke CDG was SC "Why Don't We Get Drunk And Sing" (Jimmy Buffett)
I was not a singer but my friend was and after going with her for months I decided I wanted to try it once just to say I did it. It cost me $30 just to get Volcano. When the time finally came I discovered that singing it alone was different from with the radio--like it was in a key way too low for me. Plus there was the shock of hearing my voice amplified for the first time. Thus launched my comedy career.
Edit: Actually I think I bought the 45s of I Want To Hold Your Hand and She Loves You before I could convince my mother to spend that whopping $3 of my allowance on an album of something I would "be tired of in a few weeks."

My first music purchase was probably an ELO vinyl album. Don't remember which one now, I have them all on vinyl.
And oddly enough, my first cdg was a custom SC disc with mostly ELO on it

First Record Album - "Let's Get Small" by Steve Martin in 1978. I was 12 and had to beg my father for it. I still have it. First Karaoke - Pioneer Laser Disc with "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak. Purchased so I could practice the song and sing it at karaoke. First CD - "Ki" by Kitaro. Purchased in 1983 when I bought my first home stereo with a CD Player with money saved up from sacking groceries and mowing lawns. Still have this CD (I think it sound better on vinyl) Kitaro is an amazing Grammy Award winning composer. I discovered him when I considered him to be a "Japanese synthesizer artist". He is and always has been so much more. I have almost all of his releases, most on vinyl. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitaro

first tape I bought had to be Journey Frontiers Probably the same for CD First karaoke was the full set of tip top LDs. Could've kicked my syelf for going LD when I did as CDG was just getting started. If I had gone cdg then I would have bought the DK collection (origianal 99) and still hav money left over for the equipment. I wasn't that savvy then. Now if I had to start over I'd probably pick up the SBI starter set (20,000 songs for 8999.99) from tricerasoft.com.

First vinyl album Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon back in 1976 First Music CD Bruce Springsteen - Born In The USA around 1984 First CDG's a 10 pack of Tip Top Hits that came with my Vocopro CDG4000 player. I still have that old player it got dragged around for quite a few years to partys and bars. It still works for some reason I just can't seem to to let it go and get rid of it.

No idea what my first CD was -- I was a late adopter.
My first vinyl record was Alan Sherman, "My Son, The Celebrity".

I’m one of the few old school o.g. (old goat referring to myself ) kj’s around here. My first purchase - the only format available at the time: Pioneer Laser Karaoke Discs pkl 001-010 along with the pioneer 303t dual laser player. Oh yeah! At our old age we’re still rockin’ & has no plans to quit any time soon! Disclaimer: pic below was generic. Not me! Attachment:
