For that price go for it. I have the boss 532, and it works great. I wish I had waited and gotten that one myself.

I have that model... the 1180

you have to understand it's a digital workstation...

only one device is able to be recorded at a time. Then you play back that track and can record another along with it, either recording that new track along with, or merely recording the new track.

For instance, record the drum part.

Play back, and now record the bass.

Play back and now record the electric guitars.

etc. etc.

There IS a tape in recording function where you record a LINE IN from an outside mixer...

What do you need the recorder digital workstation for? It's much different than I initially wanted. Not saying I won't use it for what it's designed for, but essentially, for what I NEEDED, it's major overkill.

Matt

You may be right knight I had originally planned on getting the br532 at about 299 it only comes with a 32 mb card so iI would have to purchase a couple 128mb cards at about 40 bucks it does not come with a 110 power supply Boss sell this for about 20 bucks...so today I bought the br1180 new with the warranty for 549 its a close out, I could'nt resist my wife had to get something for xmas, so this is it.....I at one time spent a lot of time with a teac3340s tape machine this is very much the same machine, I want it for personal use mainly....

sounds like a winner... and yes, you're describing exactly WHY I chose to go with the 20gb hdd & cd burner system!

I'll admit too that lately, I've been using the storage and hard drive functions a LOT. Making a project for another site, and it's way kewl to hook up a cassette player to it, dub it to digital, store it, and burn it to cd when I need to!
