Is there anyone here that is a member on Karaoke Gold MIRC? I need to contact someone there. It looks like the server is down or my account is disabled (for no reason apparently).

not sure what your talking about, unless you mean the mirc program that connects to all the IRC web/chat channels, in which case I don't think you will find anyone willing to help you here..

Well, I don't appreciate you insulting me.

Being part of mirc doesn't make me a pirate. I've been part of karaoke gold for years to keep in touch with all my karaoke friends. I buy all my karaoke discs and have hundreds of them. I don't download via mirc.

Telling me I'm a pirate because I'm part of mirc is like telling a straight person he's gay just because he has a friend that's gay.

The guy who had over 400,000 songs and had a problem with his software not being able to list them all has already disappeared so my opinions are still valid. Anyone who even remotely looks like they might have too many songs, in someone else's opinion, is badgered into going away and leaving the playground free for the Cheer Leaders to keep on Cheering.

Phil - If you are going to hang around with, associate with and thus tolerate pirates then I am going to call you out for doing so.

I find it difficult to believe that using a portal known for piracy as a means of staying in touch with karaoke friends is a valid reason for using said piracy portal. If it is, then you really should look for a different way to stay in touch with folks. Yes, I am being preachy and judgy and for good reason - piracy hurts the industry. Period.

Maybe you aren't a pirate, but hanging out in a forum where it is not only tolerated but promoted won't make you any friends here. Except Bruce.

One of the popular ones on mirc is KaraokeWorld. Come and get all of your free downloads....

The point is, these channels that are offering free karaoke downloads and file sharing are illegal. Being a part of mirc means you are associating with illegal activity. Anyone on the up and up would have nothing to do with it, Period!

So here we go again. Tony Soprano owns the Bada Bing Strip club here in New Jersey and a lot of shady people hang out there. There are some people that just go there for the free buffett and the view; but they should all go to jail because Tony Soprano and his friends are there all of the time conducting illegal business?

Yeah, narrow minded people. I will never understand that. I have some friends that are gay, so that means I'm gay as well? Yeah, you keep going through life assuming everything. Assumption is the root of a rotten brain.

The difference being this....being gay is not a bad thing or a negative thing. Whereas theft is wrong regardless of how it is framed.

Someone else noted in another thread that analogies always seem to go wrong at some point. That seems to apply here. I don't care how you wish to justify it. In my eyes - and I am completely unapologetic for this - if you are going to hang out with and associate yourself with people that steal from others, and even call them your "karaoke friends", then I am not going to cut you any slack at all.

You will also notice, that ABSOLUTELY NO ONE has stepped forward in public here to help you out. That should be a clear indication of how much help you will get.

Some organizations, like MADD, rally against drunk drivers. Some organizations rally against childhood hunger and diseases, like UNICEF. Then there are the Karaoke Cheerleaders, who rally against Karaoke piracy; one of the most dangerous threats to society at large. . And what a wonderful job they are doing at stemming the tide of karaoke piracy. They are trying to save the world, one Slep at a time.

....and in each of those examples, you can look at them from the outside and wonder why they haven't seemed to make any true impact. But that should not stop anyone from taking up a banner to promote what they believe in.

Just so happens that Bruce's banner is a Jolly Roger....

I think that if the manufacturers wanted to clean up piracy, they would have a better shot at going after these mirc channels and ebay and the like. If thieves don't have access to it, they'll have to buy it.

So, instead of going after the KJ who's using a loaded hard drive, go after the people selling them.

Anyway Chris, you're right on. Not many people on this forum have the balls to say it like it is... I'm glad that you do.
