So whatever happened to "Karaoke is just for fun and it doesn't matter what you sound like as long as you had fun doing it". The number one reason we do not have contests. People stop having fun and start taking things way too seriously.

BUT..DONT THINK I WILL FEEL SORRY THAT I GOT 20 COMMENTS..IVE BEEN SUBBING A SONG A DAY HERE FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS..I READ MY COMMENTS AND I REALLY DONT THINK THEY ARE FLUFF..I KNOW WHEN I SING A SONG WELL..I RARELY SING OFF KEY..I USUALLY KEEP A SONG IN MY RANGE..I KNOW I HAVE PLENTY OF EMOTION TO POUR INTO THEM...SO..WHAT IT REALLY BOILS DOWN TO IS..DO YOU LIKE MY VOICE..OR DO YOU NOT. AND I HAVE A FEELING THAT IF SOMEONE REALLY FOUND MY VOICE A TURN OFF THEY WOULDNT BOTHER TO COME LISTEN..MOST OF MY SUBS AVERAGE AROUND 50 LISTENS AND AROUND 20 COMMENTS..ITS NOT IN ANY WAY MY FAULT THAT NOT EVERYONE GETS THAT..SOME GET MORE..SOME GET LESS..IF YOU GO OUT INTO THE REAL WORLD YOU HAVE TO BUILD UP A FAN BASE..I AM REALLY NOT SURE WHY SOME PEOPLE THINK THE WEB DOESNT WARRANT REAL WORLD IDEALS...ITS REAL PEOPLE ON IT.

AND YES...THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE KARAOKE AND ITS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN..I DONT SEE ANY OF US HITTIN THE BIG TIME ANY MOMENT AS A RESULT OF THIS WEBSITE..

P.S. I NEVER INTENDED TO MAKE ANY THREAD GO NASTY..I HAVE A DIFFERING VIEW..WHY IS THAT OK FOR SOME..AND NOT OTHERS..AND IF YOU HAD ASKED NICELY I WOULD HAVE DROPPED THE CAPS LONG AGO..BUT..SINCE I DONT TAKE ORDERS VERY WELL THEY ARE STILL HERE.

Oh boy, I just popped on to the site to get a quick peek at what is happening! There is so much going on I can't keep up.

I started this thread. Where it goes from there, well.... so goes it. We are humans with our own opinions which is why I asked the question to begin with- to get your opinions on not wanting comments. I have heard alot of debate on ratings but why you wouldnt want comments was something that I had never considered so wanted to know others thoughts...I got that and more...works for me

On a seperate subject (yes, off my own topic )
I have heard alot of mention about 'family'
Well, we have a whole slew of family as members. The only family members that normally (unless it is an accident) get ranked are me and Old Paint.
Having our family on here is a blast...not because we get such positive comments. But because we live far away from all of them and this has been a great place for all of us touch base, gather and have fun together from around the U.S.
When we get positive encouraging comments from them, we don't consider them fluff...we consider them loving and encouraging people, as family usually is.
And our kids are members as well, they are 9 and 12 and they are glad to have a place to sing and try different songs for others to hear. Where we live (the sticks) they don't get to sing karaoke with people other than mom and dad (so uncool ) So when they get a chance they love to sub here too.

We have met many people on here that we have enjoyed bantering with and are proud to say we have become SS friends with. I havent been around only in spurts lately so there are many new people that I look forward to listening to and bantering with , now that my work hours have reduced. And now that this is the last day of hunting season, my better half (and Mixer) will be returning as well.

When I was on here more regularly it really seemed like a big family with everyone( not always happy as in real life families ) I am hoping that I am returning to such a site. And I hope that some friends I have made on here are not gone. I also hope to make many new friends. No, that does not mean people who leave me 'fluff' or only 10's.... I mean people that are fun, and can give and take constructive criticism.

Old Paint and I have been members since April. It has been a very positive addition to our life and hope to stick around for a while (we may have a hiatus now and then, but you can't get rid of us that easy )

p.s Sorry if this post was hard to follow, I had to stop a couple times to be a mom and then try to return to my train of thought -something that is not easy for me to do without interruption

but as far as I'm concerned... that's how normal conversations go anyways... Ya never stay on the same topic for a few days straight when ur talkin to someone face to face, do we? ! Gilly? Do you know what "on topic" means?? !!

oh yah... and as far as the hijacking being a clique thing.... please.... There are PLLLENTY of people that hijack that aren't part of any clique and that don't hijack to be mean.. sometimes it's a joke.. for a good lauh and other times, it's just normal progression of a conversation.. AND the people in this clique that u speak of... myself included, I'm sure... don't purposely go out and INTEND to hijack threads.... Somethin comes up... and topics get changed.... normal conversation. Can't control that. Like many things in life....

I dont think I disagreed with my original post, did I? I still want to know everyones reasons why they wouldn't want comments on their song.

My above post was more on the 'family' thing I have read quite a bit and also answering a question about how the site has evolved since we first joined. (way more people and subs!!! )
