The only celeb I have had, if you can call him that, was one of the "Capital One Viking" actors. You know. "Whats in your wallet?" Played a mean harmonica too. But I am always waiting as I live in celebrity territory! A lot live in my area, but they don't seem to go to karaoke.

Not during my show. Back in 2003 in SoCal I went to the club to do maintenance work on my system, Gwen Stefani (No Doubt) & band mate Tony Kanal were there having lunch. Born & raised in Fullerton she was visiting her folks at the time. The wait staff told her I have a lot of her songs, she asked me if she can sing it. Unfortunately, my cds were locked in the storeroom (disc based) & didn’t bring the keys with me. I told her I’m only 10 min away back in 20. Politely she declined because they’re just about finished & leaving. We took a few pictures & hang it in the hallway. Super friendly & very nice lady.

Closest thing to a 'celeb' was a 6th season American Idol finalist. Oh and the trumpet player from the 80's carnation of the Nu Shuz Band (I Can't Wait) , although no I really do not count that. I get lots of 'local scene' celeb musicians, but nothing more.

Biggest star for me was Charles Barkley. He was in town for a celebrity golf tournament and ended up closing my show with "Sweet Home Alabama".

Being a Portland downtown nightclub, Billy Idol came in one night. The bar owner lady got up and sang "White wedding" to him. Cuba Gooding jr. was in town to shoot film a number of years ago and took over the upper level and made it his home away from home. Tanya Harding came in one evening. Bill Walton came in during a fundraiser party. Of course, Greg Oden(famous of the bum knees and Trailblazers and explicit selfies on the internet) came in one evening couple years back. Met Mel Counts one evening(1960's Lakers fwd/center...played with Jerry West, Elgin Baylor and Wilt). One of our old timer Karaoke singers comes by periodically to sing when she's in town. She presently sings back-up with The Artist Formerly Known As Prince. She once sang back-up for me Karaoke as I sang lead on a blues song!!

Was Tanya searched before going in. We had the Canadian rock band at one of our shows a few years back and they were gracious to sing with our singers who asked them to. I did a few Trooper songs with lead singer Ra McGuire. They are truly Canada's party band. Great and friendly people.

I have had experience with SA celebs. With a national celeb named Vicky Sampson who sings 'My African Dream' She sang that and Toni Braxton songs, whenever she felt like it. She was very humble and i liked that about her.
Also pre-fame diva's and male egocentrics from 8th place Idols and Coca-Cola Popstars, who where not actually very good singers.
One of them threw the mic down on the floor during a performance because i didn't give a ton of echo to the vocal.
He just flat out sucked and could not sing.

Just an observation: if she is a CURRENT back-up singer, then she actually sings with PRINCE...he dropped the symbol thing a number of years back...

I sing in Hollywierd, and of course, major celebs flock to hear me..
That being said, I sang with R. P., (you may know him as Ron Perlman)
Always have a camera, so I may post a few shots after I sober up..
Many celebs drift into the bowels of Hollywierd..

Many celebs drift into the bowels of Hollywierd.. I heard an interview with him where he expounded on the joys of karaoke. How was he?

Many celebs drift into the bowels of Hollywierd.. I heard an interview with him where he expounded on the joys of karaoke. How was he? Outstanding.. Really.. He brought in a group of groupies, and asked me if the group could sit at my table.. Absolutely.. After his first song, he returned to the table, and I said, "That was great, you could go pro". He laughed, and (He knew I knew) he pushed one of his groupies on me for a "Dirty Dance Session". Most fun I had that year.. Ever inside "The Brass Monkey" on Wilshire Blvd., check out all of the celeb pix on all the walls. (I took quite a few of these pix.)

Cool story. If I ever make it out to California for karaoke, I'll look you up. jdmeister wrote: That video always cracks me up. I would love a sequel with somebody else.
