I too think this site has changed IMMENSELY since I first came here.... and I really haven't been here too darn long, about 6 months total.

When I first subbed, I really was anxious to get honest opinions, I had never had many opinions other than family...and, well....they LOVE me, of course they're gonna say I sound great all the time.

I quickly stopped letting my songs be ranked however, and started watching what critique I tried to give others, because of the darn drama on here. I've been personally involved in that drama a couple times- unwillingly, but still.smack in the middle of it.

So I just changed my view of this place. To me, it is no longer a place to get critique & honest ranking. I just look at it as one long continuous KARAOKY NITE OUT. (where I don't have to get dressed up, the alcohol is cheaper, and nobody can see me while I sing so I can make all the funny faces I want to hit those darn high notes) It's just a fun place to hang & listen & sing. But it ends there.

When a certain person's drama gets too thick..... I just disengage myself from that person. I don't comment to them anymore, and they have quit commenting to me. Woolah- problem solved.

To me, the good here outweighs the bad. I sometimes ignore forums, I try to be nice to everyone. (if a song is AWFUL....I just don't comment)

Allstar....Wannabe.... please don't leave. You two have become some of my dearest friends on here. I have always appreciated your honesty, and always look forward to your comments, and to listening to you all's songs. Your part of MY "group" (yes.......we ALL have them) and I don't want you to go.

I don't know what started all this....I'm not in the forums too much anymore. But if there's someone causing you problems, just X that person & stay. I for one will beg you........ I don't wanna see you 2 go.

Now what was NeverHeardOfHer's second comment on here all about? I am still a bit confused. It sounds like she read something somewhere & thinks this is all a joke and you're NOT leaving.

Somebody clue me in. Cause if this thread is a joke and I fell for it.......man, am I gonna kick some a** big time.

Well, as I read I got somewhere I could finally add something.... I am very new and I have already hurt someones feelings (not nameing names) They said the people before me gave them all 10's (how they knew that I have no idea) I aint even sure what song they were talking about but as i looked at my comments I noticed I gave them like four 8's a 9 and a 10....I mean how much could that have taken their rank down? The point is they said I took their rank down....I guess I made the mistake of thinking they wanted my opinion since they marked the box and all anyway I mean truly who does a perfect 10 performance on every song? I dont thats 4 sure! I just decided today after getting a reply from them I won't be ranking anymore, just commenting, and listening so if you see my profile you will understand..... but I do want honest critque on my songs if i didnt i wouldnt check it in the submitting place. sometimes the truth is hard to take but it helps in the long run right?

Erica, I'm very sorry to hear that happened to you. Some behavior on the SS can get downright ugly. Most of us here have witnessed some vicious fallout directed towards people who've been honest in their critiques. Good for you, though, for rating as you saw fit. Honesty's supposed to be a virtue, but here it's kinda dangerous unfortunately. And the weird thing is it's really hard to predict who's gonna just lose it and attack their raters. Hmmm...maybe that's why most people rate high no matter how a sub sounds...I wish there was some protection from attacks in place here, so people could feel safer.

Well,I am very confused. I read a thread about Allstar and Wannabe wanting drama and fighting so I thought this was a joke, that I too, fell for hook, line and sinker!
However, I have now noticed that they have no subs up and havent been on so I dont know what to think.

I really hope they aren't gone....they were a part of the enjoyment of this site for OP and I.

Blue- Let me know if you find them and please tell them we don't want them to go!!!

honest reviewers seem to be very rare.

It's been said time and time again... if you leave yourself out to be ranked, you better be prepared for the brutal truth from someone.

I do find it funny that the longer people have been here, it seems the less honest they are, or they get numb to the games and either convert or die! !

I chose exile a while back from that part of k.scene. I'm back if Phil gets the "no comment" thing back... if people want to SERIOUSLY give comments, then they can pm me!

The reason I love the idea behind the no comments thing is, I don't think most people on here truly want to hear a good review of their work... a true review can be very crushing if you believe the kind lies from your friends. Some people are like Sheraoke... who used to be a reviewer, and realized that path is only one of bitterness. So now she's just happy to be here, and enjoying the time of others.

Nothing wrong with that, it's just if I truly want that, I'll go hang out at karaoke with my friends. They too won't tell me that I tanked a song.

What they don't realize is, I'm very honest with myself. Many of the subs I initially put on here, heck, I'd TELL people the faults that I could initially see! When I got a 10 on a song I about freaked.. I knew it was easily a seven ... I wondered if they were hearing the same song out of their speakers that I was hearing out of mine!

Well the truth of the matter is i didn't give a bad rank unless you count a 8,9, or 10 as bad. My point is I came here to have fun, listen to others, have others listen to me, and most importantly make friends.....NOT hurting someones feelings....I mean it has bothered me most the night. My hubby said are you crazy you cant let that get to you..... I guess there is another saying we could use besides "if you cant say anything nice" how about "you cant please everybody" cause ya know its the truth anyway I am just soft-hearted and I don't like the feeling of not being liked or offending someone. How do they know someone else didnt bring their score down....cause if you know how to find out how peeps rank ya tell me I want to peek at mine JK chat @ ya later I'm sure I will think of more to add later I wish there was more live action on here like a chat room I put it in the suggestions...I am sure if they could they would have already done it.

Yes I do love you Melly.....and you're right Erica, sorry I didn't point that out. 8, 9, and 10 aren't bad. It's just that in the context of SS, I guess some people think anything but 10 is bad...it's so twisted dude seriously.

I'm looking forward to the no comments option. Then commenting itself can no longer be held above people's heads like some huge nazi cattle prod (I mean the pressure to comment in order to get listened to; didn't mean your comments, Erica).

that is why I don't rank or comment, or sub, either (until phill tweaks a few things)... I have heard a few songs that were maybe a 9- tops... most really good singers on here would be 7-8's and the rest would fall between 5-6... or if I may quote:

"There are some folks on there just passing out the 10's. Ranking is to provide your honest opinion. Not for a popularity contest. I have seen some songs that hardly deserve a 5 get 10s. The sad thing is there are people that have submitted songs that are well worth a 10+. These people are robbed of their well deserved level. Because those who have ranked these poorly performed songs, just beliitle the really well performed songs." - WebGuru, April 20, 2004...

and last, but not least:

WOW... I had to read the last one a few times to make sure I wasn't the one who said it and sure enough I wasn't... I believe I did say the same points that were made by both last month and we all know how that went this problem was here way before I was a member but hopefully the No Rank and No comment options on subbing will alleviate some of the tension on this subject... just some thoughts- tig

I am not sure what you meant about the comment thing I mean I seen it written earlier but I didnt take offense to it but I do comment on alot of songs only cause I have had nothing better to do for the last few days and just enjoy listening but you know what else it is sooo hard not to sound like a broken record when you are commenting espeacially when you really dont have anything else to discuss with them cause you really dont know em anyway thats just another bit of my 2 cents

and then....there are those like me who if you comment....great, and if not....that's cool too. I don't listen to people so they will come to mine....i listen cause...hey...i got the time.....they got the beer...er....the songs up.....and it keeps me away from the stuff in the FRIDGE people!!....that and now that i have a total gym....it's my exercise music....i like it better than radio....This is MY play time...my personal fun. I am home ALL week.....with CHILDREN.........actually....after i am done schooling them and doing my housework.....this is my relax time...

I have to agree.....if you want to be rated....fine.....but WE ALL hear things differently......and if....let's use me....by all means.......
Say i got 10 peeps who think i'm great ......and one who doesn't....then yeah....i'm gonna be wondering.....hmmm, why? but in the scheme of the world....why get mad.....I DID ask for it.

And for me.....who doesn't ask.....then shine me on.........cause i AIN'T EVER gonna win a grammy!! But i ADMIT, i put mine up for fun....and if someone gets a giggle....or a heave in their tummy from my caterwhauling...then hey....i say.....CHEERS!! that's MY story and i'm sticking to it........but then, you know i'm a nut!!
