No nothing was sold off, they legally changed the name. It was not only announce on their website but facebook page as well. Still owned and operated by the same entity as it's always been. since the name change they have also changed their websites. viewtopic.php?f=33&t=29089

Bob Latshaw is a friend of mine. trust me, Latshaw systems in just fine... in fact, he's doing quite well. The name change was a business move.

Um, no it doesn't. I've installed all the new versions of their apps, and just like before, they never include ANY other software or ads for any other company. The only person spreading crap is you.

Anyway, thanks for asking! Complex <> Advanced. I am wondering what it is that CompuHost can do during an active show that I can't do or might want to do with Karma. I know I can add a song to the Karma database in about 20 seconds if I downloaded one on the fly. Not sure CompuHost can even update the database while a singer is singing can it? (I may be wrong...I really don't know). Even if it can I know it can't update the database as fast as Karma. And doesn't it also have to be in some special format. btw....iPhone.....VERY advanced. ANYONE can pick it up and use it with no training at all. I can teach someone everything about Karma in 15 minutes. -Chris

I've used Compu-host in the past and I currently use Karma. comput-host is a clunky piece of garbage. Slow, won't update the database during a performance (Stops the song that is playing if you try), Requires a much faster computer to even function (Karma will run on a single core 1.8ghz with no problem) and has got to have the most cluttered control layout I've ever seen. Also, there is nothing more annoying than a program that has to go through a bunch of windows just to add a song to a singers Cue. Not to mention the customer service is piss poor.
I have shown karma to several KJs that were using Compu-host and they have since converted to Karma.

PCDJ Karaoki is somewhat the same as Compu-host, I believe. It, too, has problems updating during a performance, and even switching "cases". Sometime you can't add singers during a performance, too. Has anyone else use Karaoki, and what did you think of it??

I did not know that, chris. I know you can point & click any desired object on the screen (with the exception of 5 on top right; play, stop, pause, fade & play next) without disturbing the tracks already playing. I didn’t know you can also update the database at the same time. So I tried it & you were right. Awesome! Thanks!

Couple pertinent info karaosoft posted on their facebook page: Dec 9: “Just an FYI so you can plan ahead, Karma 2014 will increase the minimum screen resolution width from 1024 to 1280. So, if you have an old monitor or video card with a max resolution of 1024x768, you'll either need to stick with Karma 2013 or get a new monitor. Sorry, it's in the name of progress I swear”. Dec 14: “Woke up to find out we hit our 5,000th customer in the U.S. ...and on my birthday I know it's purely coincidental, but what a great present to wake up to, and thank you all for helping us hit this new milestone”. Congrats, Bob & happy birthday! Attachment:

Brian - I have become quite efficient at buying and downloading a new track, properly naming the downloaded track, moving it to the correct folder location, and then updating the database all within a single singer being on stage. Only works on slower nights where I am not managing other things. There are some reporting features I wish Karma had, but after chatting with Bob Latshaw, I understand exactly why those features are not there. (it isn't a technical limitation, it is a support limitation). -Chris

CompuHost can update the database while a singer is singing, but with the media player there’s really no reason to. As a test, I just updated the library with 2,299 songs in under a minute while a song was playing. As for properly naming songs, CompuHost has ten different name templates for adding songs, but again, with the media player there’s really no reason to. I do like Karma’s dark screen, but even if Karma added a Kiosk system and KJMediaPro support, I still wouldn’t crossgrade till they allowed me to create a much more professional looking performance screen. CompuHost will run on a Pentium 4, 1.6ghz , but you’ll probably want to turn off some of the features that don’t even exist in Karma. As for support, they both could use some help in that department, but at least CompuHost will listen.
