Yes, you can hum w/ your nose pinched. Move from a 'head hum' to a 'voice hum' w/ the air coming out your lips barely parted enough to let the air out (don't purse your lips like you usually think of doing when you hum).
Funny tongue story (well for me anyway!). About 15 people at work, mostly coworkers. I did tongue trick so that only 1 coworker saw it, she screamed. I then acted like nothing was wrong even asking her 'What's wrong Amy? Everything ok?' She was so flustered and couldn't explain what she saw she dropped it. I waited about 2-3 minutes and then I did it again - she screams again. I again acted like nothing was wrong. Even the waitress comes over to asks her what's wrong (in addition to the entire table being very concerned over this one person suddenly screaming at the table. About 5 minutes later she gets calm enough she leans over and says "Don't EVER do that again!". And to think she freaked out over my rolling my tongue completely over 360*).
BTW, she was a good friend then and we've known each other for almost 15 years now. She still freaks out over the tongue thing though.
As for humming and whistling at the same time, I can make a humming noise, but no tune to match the whistle... maybe if I practiced?
Can you whistle blowing out, and sucking air in? Sort of creating an almost non-stop whistle fest? You'd switch directions between notes to make then a little more stacatto.

Lol. me? Odd?
Karaokemeister. I told my rambling sotry of learning to whistle. BUT, before I learned the RIGHT way, i could ONLY whistle breathing air IN, instead of blowing out. But, it sounds exactly the same. So, now I am the proud owner of a non stop whistle:) Lol, oh, i am SOO talented, i don't even have to stop to breathe... Whistling is big in my family.. odd, i know, but my father and his brother have the most amazing musical whistle. A good whistler i love to listen to....
(This Reminds me of the skit of the non stop singing, from jack black etc)
a complete 360 with your tongue.. now, i gotta see that.... you sound talented with that thing......

I can make you swear my mouth is closed while I'm doing it.
And you 'can' hum without letting any air out. You just have to hum till the mouth fills up w/ air, breathe it back down, hum again, breathe the same air again, etc. Until you pass out for not breathing.

Well, I could run with this comment insulting intelligence, family trees, and maybe even target just you instead of the collective 'us', but it would create 'heated debate' and spice up the forum which wouldn't be fair for me to start before I leave for 2 weeks. Besides that would be foolish of me... especially since I always thought I was part of the 'us'...

Well, I tried it... all I managed to get was a sound much like that of a bellowing cow. And I can't whistle and hum at the same time either, (that was entertaining -- my dog, who is deaf and blind, BTW, cocked his head to the side as if to say "WHAT THE HECK IS THAT NOISE?!" if that tells you anything
