Wow Joe, quite a response you got there.

First response, your response to "I've taken enough"

I was pretty busy that day (Chris is on my facebook, and saw the build pics) I honestly didn't have time to sit around answering the 20 or so questions Chris had put out. I was also sort of busy grabbing a handful of ones.

Second response.
You've never been to 7 Bamboo. You have no way of knowing what the crowd was. A bit prejudice don't you think? A few people have been, so maybe you could ask them what it was like? I dunno. YMMV.

I'm glad you've been a successful business man. Again though, I can't divulge everything going on with mine, but there's some things happening.

Yes Insane, there are things that will always be in bad taste, JFK, RFK, MLK, Challenger, Columbia, Oklahoma City, and 9/11 for starters. I haven't even mentioned things outside the US.

toqer does have an impressive setup. We just disagree on the human element piece. Otherwise I think he has a viable product.

Toqer, what is getting to me is that you have a bunch of people here with way more experience in both running businesses and hosting karaoke than you, who are actually trying to help you by providing questions that must be answered before you can succeed ( Marketing questions in particular, but others as well). Having the answers to these questions- and at this point you haven't shown that you do- is not optional. It's a must. Yet you couldn't really answer them.

For instance no mention at all of how you plan to lure satisfied customers of favorite KJs who only pay for their drinks to a venue where one must pay per song, with no one putting any energy into the show- and the venue possibly having to listen to the same 2 or 3 singers all night long. Your first setup bringing in $25 per night on average tells me it would be a good idea for you to come up with such a plan.

You seem to repeat the impression that you think like uneducated bar owners: "All KJs are the same- say next and press play." Luckily, good Karaoke Hosts have proven this completely incorrect. "Make noise come out of the speakers and they will come" just ain't gonna cut it.

Yet you are doing the equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and going " la la la can't hear you la la la..." and then getting defensive with these people because you don't have the tools that you need, and can't seem to put your ego aside long enough to try and learn something new.

In a way, you are sort of a Luddite yourself, because you are attempting to take what you used - successfully- in ONE non-standard venue and apply it to all other venues- most of which are completely different from your first.. In other words, you are unwilling to try something that would be new for YOU.

However, I understand this. Do the best you can, and hopefully the knowledge will come with experience.

Pay to play and a lame-azz KJ will kill a karaoke bar quickly.

Ok, I won't open a YouTube link, but will assume negativity. Therefore, I will try to present help in a more positive manner:

1) Marketing: While I- and any other decent Karaoke Host- may not think that your automated system can replace a good karaoke host, I think that- if marketed as a supplement in a place that already does karaoke, you may have a market. Simply sell as- for instance: 4:00PM - 8:00PM is karaoke practice time! Get yourself comfortable with your new songs BEFORE live karaoke!, or something similar.

Since you have shown absolutely NO marketing strategy, even if this sucks, it's better than you show.

2) If there are only 1 or 2 singers in a venue, what will you do to keep them from singing all night? Positively speaking, if my very favorite singers in the whole world were to sing for 7 hours I would shoot myself. What will you do- again assuming there are only 2 singers there- to prevent this- which will cost the venue customers?

3) What is your profit point? Your OP stated an "IF" of 7 days, but what- in real life- is your profit point? In other words, in regard to a permanent installation- on what day-of 7- do you start showing a profit?

Three questions that you absolutely MUST be able to answer, or you WILL be a failure. Not because I want you to, but because this is what business is all about- Research. Know all the answers to the business that you choose- or fail. Simple.

Or, to be more gentle, another thought. You may have absolutely no need to sell HERE, BUT, if you can sell a forum full of professional Karaoke Hosts, you can sell anyone. Show us what you have- if you've got a set.

If you think this is some sort of testosterone challenge, you are wrong. This is how I was taught to sell.

Whether it be Electronic components, Meat, Jewelry, Clothes, Surplus, Liquor, or whatever. Find your most hostile base- and sell them. Do it there, and you can do it anywhere.

So- do you have ANYTHING, or are you just hoping that noise out of the speakers will do it?

Keep in mind that "secret marketing" is an oxymoron, so please don't talk about how you may have an unknown plan. GOOD marketing means everyone knows what you are doing, and are curious about your product. BAD marketing means no one knows and no one could care less.

OK, Toqer. If at anytime you find that you could use any information whatsoever, you know that I- and lots of folks way smarter that me- are here to help.

Go get 'em!
