Guess the karaoke cloud will kill the "never had my show computer on the internet" folks and it is coming. Downloaded software and content is going away sooner than you will be ready for.
Not necessarily, I have a laptop I can bring to download to a flash drive & transfer to the show computer.
Every rig I have is connected to the Internet. My show computers are probably safer than other machines I have because they only get used for a very limited scope of sites. These are Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines with default security configurations running Microsoft Security Essentials. Not saying they are bulletproof, but even if one were to be compromised, I can rebuild any of them in less than an hour. -Chris
I too connect to the internet with my show computer for only 1 reason UPDATING, not surfing, buying, shopping, emails. etc. The purchasing of download music from trusted sites would also be something I would engage in (if I did that). I had a problem with my second monitor display and I thought I was going to have to update the video driver, but instead I used system restore and that did the trick.
Remember this what you make your living with, not for other everyday tasks.
