So unless a host is requested to stop using a particular brand or track, I would see little reason for even legal hosts to voluntarily drop questionable material they have paid for.

You mean like you did with Sound Choice?

8) I have no SC product period Bazza so there would be no reason to drop the material from the library. I have Zoom, SBI, DK, CB no SC.

As you are probably aware Bazza, The Lone Ranger has absolutely no credibility whatsoever.

Either he is an outright liar or has a severe mental condition that causes him deep memory loss.

For those of us who have decided to drop the SC product there is no further cost incurred. There are no need for audits or fees or any of the rest of this nonsense. If you are running a business, you limit your possible expenses as much as possible, and you don't leave yourself open to questionable law suits. So you are right it isn't really a deal unless you want to keep using the product, or you are faced with a law suit and want to settle out of court which is what Harrington Legal is hoping for anyway. The Sound Choice discs I have purchased were on average 22.00 per disc with tax and all.

I suppose a crow eating diet can cause these afflictions.

He stated that he, "Has no SC product", not that he has never bought any.

I have no Ford product.
The ones I have purchased were on an average cost of thousands of dollars.

GET IT or are you the one with the severe mental problem?

Here's a question for all KJs. Would you rather buy a disc that was produced legally with terrible song choices or a disc that was produced with great song choices but you weren't sure if they had paid all of the proper fees to produce the disc?

This one is a "gimme" for me. As long as I own the disc ( bought and paid for in good faith) AND use it in my OMD bases show, I have absolutely no legal responsibility to to verify that each and every track on that disc is licensed by the producer.

Just like if I buy a detergent that claims to have Fabreze as an ingredient on it's label, I can use it without having to make sure that that the detergent manufacturer has permission to advertise that.

I buy the best quality discs, and use them in my show. It's up to the producers to make sure they are licensed. If they aren't, and I suffer any legal backlash because of it, I have recourse AND extremely limited liability.

Also, for informational purposes: Though I have very few SC discs ( 30 something, maybe?) I still use them for a few songs in those venues that will allow them- because I paid business funds to acquire them. Since no one has sent me ( or any other KJ ) a list of questionable tracks ( by "no one" I mean ANY producer, not just SC) then I see no problem. Any notification process is up to the producers. Seeking these things out, like producers' licensing, is not the responsibility of the Karaoke Host.

But just like the Seinfeld episode where Elaine was suspicious about some Low Fat Yogurt a shop was selling, you might want to check out whether it's really got Fabreze in the detergent (like Elaine brought to Yogurt to a Lab to be tested).

8) Just because I bought a few SC way back when doesn't mean I still have them does it? The few I had I gave away. I guess I should have said I currently have none. As far as the show goes I have none in my books that is what matters to me at least. As far being worried about any of this, the days left in the business are now down to 20. So what I have or don't have won't make any difference, will it Insane?

No. It means you had SC and dropped them.

Yet you said:

Lets see if I understand your logic:

  • It makes no sense for hosts to drop things they paid for.
  • You can't follow your own advise because you have no SC to drop.
  • You have no SC to drop, because you already dropped them.

Got it.

Why can't you just be honest and truthful? Its very unbecoming of a man of your age.
