Pop Hits Today? Who makes this brand? Are they still in business? Anybody know where I can get them? I saw one on the UK Ebay site, but it had already been sold.
I'm asking because a gal at my show wants Natalie Merchant's version of "In The Ghetto" and I haven't been able to find it available on any other brand...

Pop Hits Today was a limited series. They started with 9808 thru 9812 and then 9901 thru 9915 (I still haven't figured out what the 13th, 14th, and 15th month of the year was for 1999). Your song is on PHT 9910-9. I checked some of the usual sitesw, and I did not see that track available for custom CDG or download. Edit: I found it for you.... http://www.swingtimekaraoke.com/forsale/ForSale.htm

Glad I could help....
Now, if I could only find (new or used) SC 7101 and SC 7102, and PIO 022, I'd be a very happy camper.

According to my Stellar CAP paperwork, there is at least one Pop Hits Today disc that is covered by the CAP. I don't know if that means it was originally produced by Stellar or not.

-Chris Not sure hoe the chain originally went. Stellar was originally Top Hits Monthly, then Panorama's Top Hits Monthly came out & Stellar seemed to drop off the scene, but the next month Pop Hits Today came out - still not sure who's that was but seemed to take the place of the original THM in when Stellar stopped that series. Then Pop hits Monthly came out under Stellar - the month (or 15th month) after PHT dropped from the scene. I know there was some legal issues between 2 (or all) of these 3 labels. Panorama took the Stellar THM AND trademarked logo and used it as their own.

Now there was a case for an infringement law suit. Panorama tried to make people think that they were actually the same company that had been putting out the original Top Hits Mothly discs(Stellar) but they were not the same company although many KJs believed that Pop Hits Monthly had gone out of business and Pop Hits Today was the "new guy" in town. Then Pop Hits Monthly(Stellar) started putting out discs on a regular basis but some kj's still thought that they were gone and were buying top hits monthly discs thinking that they were their only choice. Stellar sued the pants off Panorama and then pop hits joined up with sing it now and now they put out songs that nobody has ever heard of for the most part.

What is up with that anyway? There is no way in hell they can be making any money producing these insanely obscure songs. I'm lucky if I can recognize the names of 2 of the artists on one of their discs, and I read the Billboard charts religiously. Who is buying these?

To build our library quickly, my wife and I started collecting discs by buying "collections" from others. Kind of became a habit that's still going on. So we sell off the inevitable duplicates to try to recoup some of our expenses.

Finally did a report on all songs bought from them in 1 years time & I could count on both hands with some fingers left over how many songs actually got sung more than 5 times!

These songs aren't even on the top 40 anywhere, nor has much of their stuff they put out in the last year. Betting they won't be in business by the end of the year with this crap.

I am looking for the first two discs in the Surco Hispanico series --- 7101 and 7102 (not 1701 and 1702 from a Star Series). But thank you for checking/looking.

This is their latest pop hits disc. Has anybody ever heard a single one of these songs? I've heard of 3 of the artists, which is actually more than usual. I think 98 Degrees had the most recent hit from this list of artists, somewhere in the late 90s. Can't Get Enough 98 Degrees New Constellation Toad The Wet Sprocket Desire The Winery Dogs Chained To Love Divine Fits This Disorder The Features Time Machine The Winery Dogs In It To Win It Saliva Keep On Swinging Rival Sons I've Got You Martha Wash

holy $hit!!!! Winery Dogs.... that is a new supergroup. Mike Portnoy, Billy Sheehan and Richie Kotzen. i can't believe it's out. Smooth...check these guys out if you havent. In it to win it has already been requested (again, Smooth, not old Saliva, but this new singer is good). Rival Sons are kinda like Black Crows meet Black Smoke Cherry, Southern Rock (my band is actually already covering this song interestingly enough). 98 degrees......eh the features.....eh divine fits, might hit....but...eh martha wash....havent heard that name in a while (weather girls) but this track could hit the country stations (weird huh?) but i'm not holding my breath on that. over all, best disc in a loooooong time from PHM.

I've actually heard the Toad the Wet Sprocket song "New Constellation" at least 2-3 times on a local radio station in the last month. Not that it's a huge hit by any means, but I've heard worse. Still I'd rather they consult Billboard and try to hit the top 40 on the hot 100 list when they produce tracks...
