SAT told me via email they had to start blocking US IP addresses which is why they went through Tricerasoft. They did state for those who want custom discs still, it will be available soon and MOST of the tracks they offered as SAT will still be available, just not the Digitrax/CB tracks they now offer as SAT.

I'm curious as to who made them start blocking US IP adresses? Was this sudden action a result of Publisher threat or MCPS/PRS? Why would they be made to take this action but not Karaoke Version who is essentially doing the same things?
Just a guess on my part but would imagine the PR angencies over there are starting to enforce?? But they are selling CB/DTE tracks again. This is now the 2nd place that has done this after adding CB/DTE or SC tracks for download.

I was thinking the same thing when I read that.

And forbidding US from downloading them. If it is true that SC is allowing downloads elsewhere, then Kurt has no intention of ever allowing us to download his music, or ever getting the licensing to allow it. He's not interested in anything here but suing KJs.

everybody settle down...SC showed up unauthorized on download for about 2 days, years ago...it was pulled as soon as SC found out.....SC is not available for download anywhere....Kurt Slep has said repeatedly he has no intention to allow downloads unless the licencing landscape changed tremendously.

I hate rumors :puke:

Where did this "SC downloads" come from? To my knowledge, SC has never been available as a download - anywhere....only custom discs. And there is good reason for it. SC doesn't own the music, they own the brand. Stingray owns the music. So any company wishing to offer such a service would have to have the blessing (and bullet proof legal agreements  ) with BOTH companies in order to provide such a service. It sounds complicated and very expensive to me.

I also think the theory of Selectatrack blocking IP's had nothing to do with them adding DTE. They added DTE well after the fact. DTE/CB tracks (at least 50% are not licensed to be sold in the US) could only be put on the site if SAT started blocking US customers. Not much of a consolation for SAT... They lost access to probably a big part of their customer base BUT they get to sell DTE/CB to the Europeans who have never even heard of the brand! Hoooray!

The site I was referring to wasn't SC, it was Karaoke Channel - sorry for the mixup. But it was Singtotheworld that has also blocked US IP for their customs and downloads because they added Karaoke Channel and maybe DTE, that I don't know.

Lon beat me to it. The closest I have seen to downloadable SC is on Custom Burn (Sing To The World-owned), but they are Karaoke Channel, not Sound Choice. Select a track used to have Karaoke Channel too, but they were removed a wee while back. I have never seen any Chartbusters/Digitrax on Custom Burm but I just noticed last night they have added a load of All Star. It's Select-A-Track that have put up the CB/DTE (for the second time!).

Chartbuster is most certainly not "never even heard of" in Europe. There are several KJs in my area that have it, albeit most of them are pirates. Also, country music has quite a strong following in my part of the world so no self respecting KJ playing such a gig is without a good few CB gems.

I do see Brad's frustration though. Let's hope this "Select Karaoke" will eventually have everything Select-a-track has, bar DTE.

Spotted a new addition to the manufacturer list on Select-a-track last night - Jay Records. http://selectatrack.com/manufacturer/JY No tracks added yet though.

You are right Lord... Karaoke Channel is on Customburn and it looks like the whole library (over 13K songs). I remember buying a few from Selectatrack last year to check them out, but they only had like 500 songs in total on the site. I just saw the JY logo as well but have never heard of them. A quick Google search shows they are a UK company making what I am guessing is British Broadway stuff. No mention of CDG or Karaoke versions though. Maybe they will be selling audio only?

Not had much experience with Protrax, although their backing track for Red Red Wine (Neil Diamond version) is identical to Mr Entertainer's.

I could be mistaken but I think the proteas are the same as a brand called n"music factory" if that is true then it is what I would call mid range quality, butnherebwll be some tracks that were either never done elsewhere or hard to find on discontinued brands

Anyone notice how Protrax's Neil Diamond tracks have their own special branding - "The Diamond Collection" - with no actual reference to Protrax itself?

Yeah, I could never tell the difference between Masstermix and Music factory. Although there are some Starmaker tracks whose graphics are very similar to MX.

I should've warned you about Tricerasoft's CDs. I assumed averyone knew about them. They even put the wrong version of one of my songs on the disc! Tricerasoft is strictly for downloads for me ever since.
