Just stumbled on another way around the whole Selectatrack blocking thing... If you are using PCDJ Karaoki program - it has the Selectatrack web shop already in the software  It doesn't block your ip.... and now that CB/Digitrax has the whole library on the site you can buy the tracks that they aren't licensed to sell in the US! Hows that for a workaround?

Of course it means you have to use PCDJ which I am not a fan of

Brad-The-Man!

you are correct - in both!
I also hate PCDJ - a nightmare to use, and crashes all the time!

And - yes, you can get the selectatrack range from the in store shop - seems like another sneaky work around!

BTW - you can also use the DEMO mode forever - just delete the KJ.DAT file that is located in your:

C:\Users\***myusername***\AppData\Local\APW_E folder - this folder is hidden, so you have to look for it, but just search KJ.DAT and delete it!
(make sure Karaoki is not running first)

simple - easy downloads... not legal, but hey - do selecttrack care?

Well I don't know how long it will last but currently I can access the original select-a-track site, my account is still there.

So now I can order Pocket Songs, Chartbuster/Digitrax and Zoom all from the same place on custom disc. Three of my favourite brands for different genres..

Since there is no import ban on direct to customer/individual sales I am a very happy camper..

Thanks for that little workaround. The program works forever or is this just to buy songs?

Hi

As long as the program loads, you can use the shop!!

But hang on..... that's more money in selectatrack's pocket for the summer holidays!!!!!

I recommend we try to find legal tracks... that way we are covered if the PRS or MCPS turn up at the venue!

At this point in time I literally do not care anymore.

My concience is absolutely clear.

The company producing the track gets their cut

the artist gets their cut from the agreed upon mechanical license AND the US/Canada performance fees so they actually get paid twice

the site selling the track makes money

the KJ gets the song they want and by extension the singers sing the songs they want.

no one in this whole process is getting screwed, so again my concience is clear

I don't care about that. I canre about getting the music my customers want to sing. If I have to get them from SAT, I am fine with it. The American mfrs suck, anyway. The only good one doesn't produce anymore. DTE is recycled CB, which I was NEVER impressed with.

But can you use the PCDJ demo as a program indefinitely, then??

Not seeing CB tracks at selectatrack via the PCDJ program.

Also the original SAT link shows a page under reconstruction.

Interesting. Having seen this I typed in http://selectkaraoke.com and saw for the first time the Tricerasoft/Selectatrack lookalike "SelectKaraoke" site. But only briefly, for after two seconds I was redirected to Select-a-track and it's still there thankfully! Give this link a try, it works for me:- http://selectatrack.com/manufacturer/CB.

Another twist, if I go to SelectKaraoke.com and quickly keep hitting Esc to stop it redirecting, I can browse the SelectKaraoke site freely too!

Edit to add: It looks like just the Index page of Select-a-track is showing the "under construction" message. I typed in http://selectatrack.com and got in fine.

You can see the link if you use a proxy based in england, otherwise you'll keep seeing the tricerasoft look alike site.

I did get there via a proxy, even was able to login. THought I might be able to buy the order I had as it was still there. Once I got to the credit card page, the browser crashed and I could not reopen any page. Tried several different proxy addresses too, no luck.

I have had reports that payment would not process for 2 other US KJ's (trying to sneak in under the wire).....so it looks as if unless you live outside the US even if you get in to the site you can not make a purchase......maybe a proxy CC issued overseas and a proxy address to ship and have forwarded ?

Maybe Selectatrack / Digitop / Tricerasoft / Singsunfly and now - IKO or whoever could actually comment on what is happening?

Sure would put a lot of minds at rest!!

SAT told me via email they had to start blocking US IP addresses which is why they went through Tricerasoft. They did state for those who want custom discs still, it will be available soon and MOST of the tracks they offered as SAT will still be available, just not the Digitrax/CB tracks they now offer as SAT.
They also said that the CB/DTE will NOT be available through PCDJ and they will eventually route the store through selectkaraoke site.

IKO - are they the same as Ikaraoke ("IK" on Proburn) that have similar music and graphics to Pocket Songs?

You should try a VPN, much better than web proxys. Justfreevpn is a good one, free and easy to setup

I'm curious as to who made them start blocking US IP adresses? Was this sudden action a result of Publisher threat or MCPS/PRS? Why would they be made to take this action but not Karaoke Version who is essentially doing the same things?

Sunfly, Zoom, and SBI are still selling downloads to the U.S., too.

But Karaoke-Version don't do custom discs. Could that be the distinction? Plus everything they sell is own brand, although some backing tracks are identical to other brands'.
