We are open every year. Sometimes surprisingly busy, other years expectedly dead. Being this is close to a weekend this year i'm going to wager many are going to try to take tomorrow off and turn this into a 4 day weekend meaning we could be busy after the fireworks shows subside. We were pretty slammed last night.

We're working tonight. Have no idea what to expect. Hopefully lots of folks will have taken tomorrow off and will be ready to party. Bar has set the theme as "Beach Party".

My favorite venue is starting karaoke at 6pm instead of 9pm. (They have a Thursday 9pm show and a Sunday 6pm.) Fireworks here start about 10pm, which is when it gets dark. So we're going to go sing, then go to fireworks.

our venue for Thursdays is an outdoor patio restaurant and due to parties and fireworks they decided to close the doors and give employees the day off. They didnt feel they would make enough to justify opening.

Currently have no Thursday shows on my plate so my wife and I are heading out shortly to BBQ with some of our best friends. Will be drinking heavily, watching whatever fireworks we can see from the back yard, and thinking about anything BUT karaoke tonight.

Yup fixing to load up and head out the door. Have a private event at a country club which will be primarily dj work. They asked me to set up for karaoke as well but I cant see too many people singing. Not much for fireworks and would rather stay off the streets during amateur drink and drive night. Hope everyone has a great holiday!

Last night was like the night before Thanksgiving and we were slammed with 54 singers in the rotation at the peak. Tonight I am starting at my usual time but I only hope that the heavy rains don't keep people away.

Did a double. Party during the day and venue at night. Got a late start though. The venue set up chairs out on the patio ( outdoor smoking area) and all watched the town fireworks from there before heading in to sing.
Like Rum, got slammed last night. People here in NJ are kinda iffy about the beach- thanks to that b!t@h Sandy, so I think less went for the long weekend than would have...

Actually had a surprisingly busy night tonight - compared to past 4ths. 24 singers, most stayed all night. Many of which were newbies because the clubs they normally go to shut down for the night.

Not last night but an outdoor annual private party in the boondocks tonight. Will be 50 or 60 people and scheduled from 7 to midnight. As usual I'm sure the hat will be passed around to get me to stay late.

I worked at a private party... which is a story in itself.
I was asked 2 weeks ago for a quote on karaoke for a backyard party on the 4th of July. 5-9PM. I assumed it was a 4OJ party. I gave them a DEAL to seal the deal ($200) because I didn't have anything else going, it was a holiday Thursday, and I could still make it home for the fireworks.
Turned out to be 1) a wedding, and 2) Hillbilly Hell.
The bride wanted to sing often, as did her sisters. None of them could sing. At all. It's all about the bride and making it HER day, but if I were her groom, I would have been embarrassed.
They asked "What would it take to keep you for 2 more hours"?
My answer, as serious as I could be: $1,000.
Needless to say, I was home in time for the fireworks.

The joy of being the best in my area, is I charge more for holidays, and don't have to work them, and don't want to work holidays.
But my crappy competitors were/are working all weekend.
For me it is beers and BBQ!

For me it is beers and BBQ! I'm very good at what I do. I'm booked for most weddings 1-2 years in advance. I get most of my business via referrals. I also have a 1 year old baby at home and can't really afford not book something if I don't have anything going on.
