I never could make cookies but I'll give you my christmas fruit cake recipe.. It takes 4 cups of sugar, pound of nuts, enough flour to line the pan, that gummy candy, 2 cups of milk, can of half&half,, a little chicken broth, malt flavoring and a fifth of whiskey.. Get a great big mixing bowl ready and pour about 2 fingers of whiskey in a glass and drink to make sure its the right stuff... Put half of the flour and milk into the bowl and have another shot of whiskey... Find a great big wooden spoon and start stirring then fill a glass with the whiskey.. pour just a small amount of whiskey into the mix and drink the rest... Fiil the glass again and put some of the gummy candy in and some mashed nuts too.. Drink half the whiskey and let the dogs in... Drink the other half of the whiskey pick the spoon up off the floor and stir some more fill the glass again... Give the dogs a taste to see if its anywhere edible driink some more whiskey... Pour everything left into the bowl...Dink one more glass put the put the bowl on the flur for the dogs and go to bed.....

Here are some of the cookies I learned to make from my mom. These have all been taste tested, and I have the waistline to prove they are delicious! Enjoy!
BAKE WHILE YOU SLEEP COOKIES (A lazy man's cookie)
2 egg whites
pinch of salt
2/3 cups sugar
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350°.
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Add sugar, 2 tsp. at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir in vanilla, nuts and chocolate chips.
Drop by teaspoon onto ungreased foil lined cookie sheets.
Put in oven and TURN OVEN OFF IMMEDIATELY.
DO NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR FOR AT LEAST 8 HOURS.
Makes 40 to 50 cookies.
........................................................................

6 eggs
2 1/3 cups sugar
1 pound shortening
12 cups sifted flour
3 heaping tsp. baking powder
water
1 tablespoon vanilla
Blend flour, baking powder and shortening until like meal.
Add eggs, sugar and vanilla, beaten together.
Mix.
Add water to make dough soft enough to handle.
Shape pieces of dough into circles, figure-eights,

Decorate with sprinkles, chocolate jimmies, etc.

Place 1 1/2 inches apart.
Bake 12 - 14 minutes until cookie tops look dry and cracked.
Remove from oven and place a kiss in the center of

then remove to cool completely.

This recipe has a bit of a history... My family would make this, and send it over seas during "war times" because this cake held up so well, and never spoiled during shipping. Its yummy spices gave sweet memories of home.We make this all the time even now,I had just made this last week as a matter of fact..and I make tiny loafs,,,and give them as a sweet gift for christmas~
Tammys Boiled Spice Cake
In sauce pan add~
2 cups of sugar
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
2 teaspoons of ground clove
2 cups of water
3 tablespoon of Oleo (margarine)
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of raisins (this is optional)
Stir and Bring this to a boil,Boil 3 minutes only.Turn off stove.
Let set untill it has reached room tempature.
Turn Oven on 350..lightly grease bread loaf pans (2 pans)
Add 2 teaspoons of baking soda
and 3 cups of flour
Blend well, and divide into pans.
Bake for 30 minutes, checking with toothpick for doneness.
We cut cake thin, and and used cream cheese as a spread.
(you can add what ever kind of nuts you would like to this)
This is such a wonderful recipe...give it a try!
