Hello there my singing friends.. I thought I'd do a little discussion where we can share what song we wish more people had commented on... The one song that if someone new came here you'd want them to check out the most..
Maybe you subbed it on a slooow day where not many people were online to see it, and by the time the pace picked up again, it was on the next page
Maybe you subbed it on a day where everyone was "sub happy" .. and it moved really quickly to the next page..
Maybe it's from when you were a newer poster and didn't get as many comments
Perhaps it is a song that you really stuck your neck out to try something new on, and you just wished you had more feeback to gauge whether people liked this new side of you
Or maybe it's a song you struggle with and just wanted more constructive remarks to help you improve upon the song...
etc etc...
Was there a song that your were particularly proud of or that was special to you that did not get as many comments as you hoped??
I thought this would be a fun topic, and perhaps we can put a link to that one song and others will get a chance to take a look at it..
I know I'd like to know if I missed something that someone really enjoyed singing or is special to them but for some reason I missed it.
So go ahead and pick that one song of yours.. and let us all know about it so we have the opportunity to check out what we missed
I'll go ahead and start it..
I'd have to say for me it would be "Have You Ever Been In Love"
i did that song for my fiancee... It was a song that i never thought I could do.. had tried it before, but it had such range on it from extreme low to high, and I could never quite get it right. Something just clicked that particular day, and I was able to finally get a recording of it I liked. Unfortunately, I think it got the least comments of any of my songs, BUT weirdly enough it got the most views... well.. except for that "fart song" lmao.. That's the one song I wish had gotten more comments...
Have You Ever Been In Love?
How about YOU?? What's your one song I and others should check out that you wish more people commented on??

All of my submissions..... there should be a devoted "time to listen to Gilly" section of everyones day....
Ok, in reality? None really, I am thrilled when ANYONE listens to ANYTHING i post! I am still shocked that people listen to me, or WANT to listen to me!.. esp. when I post things like... my 3 year old singing... or, me singing bad maritime acapellas, etc. Mind, you, my comments are based on a monthly check sent to all registered members.... shoot, if you read that, and AREN"T gettign paid... umm.. your check is on the way... yup.... uh huh.

Hmmmmm- I have had a couple- I cant even recall off the top of my head which, I usually delete them and then re-sub it later at a different time of day that might be busier.
I notice the stuff that tends to get the least hits for me is stuff no one is familiar with, seems to spook people .
Overall I agree that we should have a special "Gilly listening hour" though. Just specifically cause we have the same belief about certain psycho-paths .
WINK WINK.

LOL @ the Gilly listening hour.. definitely!
aww come on your guys.. this isn't meant as an ego thing or an ungrateful thing.. Of COURSE i'm grateful for every listen and comment I get, and by no means am terribly bothered that a particular song didn't get so many comments...
that's not what this is about
I'm just trying to open up a discussion here.. find out what your fav song of yours is that if you could choose to point some people in that direction who may have missed it.. what would it be? there could be all kinds of reasons like the one i mentioned on my first post... I'd love to hear from y'all so I can check it out

OK! I see where you're coming from! If I told someone to come here and check out some of my songs I would say listen to 'Tears In Heaven' 'cos it's just special to me and I think one of my better ones (except for the bridge in the middle ) and 'Baby It's Cold Outside' 'cos I just had a blast doin' that (but don't listen to the horrid ending - I so need to do that over sometime!! ) As a matter of fact, those were just about the same words I just told a friend!
I'm pleased as can be at the comments I get as I know you are Jazz!
Good thread!
Next?

Lol, i KNOW it wasn't an ego thing:) Ok.. my best one, that I actually liked was "say won't you say".... But, I just reposted it, and SAID jsut that:) I SOOO rarely actually LIKE one of my recordings... and this one was far from perfect, but it is the ONLY one i LIKE to listen to:) but, i got as many comments on IT, as I have on everything I have submitted... so, what IS considered low comments? Anyways, that is the only song, I have liked ENOUGH to REALLY want people to hear:) Lol, am i making any sense?
But, I still think Gilly listening hour is the best idea.... Lol @ pyscho-paths.... well, wait... takes one to know one.. and i KNOW I am one, so, double whammy..

if i have to choose 1 song that i really sang with every emotion i could gather it would have been quite a few weeks ago when i sang a slow version of will you still love me tomorrow, i found it wasn't commented on as much as other recordings i had quickly put together...it wasn't my best vocals or perhaps the best thing ive ever done...but its just i felt as i sang i never worry about re subbing sometimes i re sub stuff just so i can still participate if i havent had time to record but i will say that overall i have never been dissapointed with how many comments i get, i am quite chilled where that's concerned these days...when i first began subbing songs a few months ago i did always sit and watch my subs thinking oh my god is this gonna be liked shall i delete it and i would seriously breathe a sigh of relief as people did listen interesting thread jazzy heres my little addition anyways

I am listening to it right now Tony! I'll never forget hearing that song for the first time... I was having a particularly bad day... I must have listened to that song over and over again .... I've gone back to it a few times too! I just LOVE it! I believe that was my first listen to you!

First, let me say this is a great topic.
I agree that a lot of people may be spooked by things which may be unfamiliar. Since I strive to do some rather obscure things in order to offer everyone a chance to expand their horizons (at least to be able to explore the classical genre) I don't expect a lot of comments or views and am tickled pink when someone actually does take the time to comment on a sub which no one else would probably submit. It does get discouraging sometimes when the number of views is so few, however, and it seems like I'm trying to sing to an almost empty auditorium. I have even contemplated leaving this site since I work three jobs and don't have a lot of free/recreational time to just record for the fun of it; however you guys are great and it would be a shame to miss all this talent.
Well, enough rambling.... Let me just conclude that any song which is largely ignored does a disservice to the member who put out a tremendous effort just to share a bit of their talent. I have listened to so many songs by various members which only get 1 or 2 comments and it seems a shame that they are being ignored (although I have no clue as to how many other people may be listening without leaving any comments). Maybe it would be nice to be able to see how many hits a song actually gets in order to put things into perspective.

I agree that this is a great post!
I do have one song that I love because of the quality of the lyrics & I feel like it could have been writtin for me, it shows 45 views but 16 comments
It's: I write the songs from Barry Manilow. My Mom is probably the one who listens to it on half of the views, she loves it & said this song is really me!!
The volume is a bit low on it, but it was corrected on my original & next re-sub will be play louder!

Thanks you guys for adding your songs to the list! Now I need to go check them out, as I think I had missed most of those. Gonna definitely check all of them out
hope more people will participate as I find this very interesting to know about everyone's subs

You know, there is one song I wish would have gotten more viewing time- I did a cover of Joan Osbourne's "Crazy Baby" and got 3 comments on it . I dont have it up anymore, but will be re-subbing it soon- I havent talked to many people who are at all familiar with the song, and it was one of the very first I ever subbed here.
Ok now I have shared .

Oh, I love when someone posts a topic about something I would have been too shy to bring up. My opening line woulda been more like.........
"PEOPLE- - - go listen to the song I spent so darn much time learning!!!!"
And I don't think I would have gotten a very good response. (lol) I have subbed songs that I was really nervous about, and then when it doesn't get many comments, I get to thinking that it was really bad & most people don't want to say it's bad- and don't wanna lie. I must be too vain.
If I had to pick one that fits this description, I think it would have to be "Real Bad Mood". I really needed some critique on that one cause I just learned it, and only heard it for the first time about 2 days before I subbed it. But it had low comments.
Ya know what? I'm gonna go check, but I believe I commented on all of the songs you all mentioned here!! (better go check before I start bragging tho................)

I was actually afraid to post a specific reply for fear what may result, but if I had to pick one (or if I could pick two) if would be the a capella pieces which I tried to do simply because of the difficulty of trying to learn 4 separate parts and then try to sing with myself in matching harmony. These songs would be: "Carol, Carol Christians" and "Shall We Gather at the River".

I'd have to say the duet I did with Jon Penn, "Me and My Shadow." It kinda got brushed off the first page quickly that night. We had a ball doing that one, and it came so cool
