I am having a heck of a time finding QUALITY, high capacity CD storage cases at a REASONABLE price. I have 6 of the cases in the pictured below and I would love to find more, but I can't find them anywhere.

Specifically I am looking for high capacity, solid construction storage cases. I prefer wooden cases even though they are heavier because they are also solid. I also prefer the kind where the hinge separates so the lid can be completely detached when unlocked.

I would like to stay away from aluminum cases unless someone can personally recommend a good, solid case.

Must be able to hold discs in original crystal cases as well as discs in sleeves.

-Chris

http://www.amazon.com/Marathon-MA-CD150 ... d_sxp_f_pt

Holds 150 standard jewel cases, 300 slim line jewel cases - and if you are using sleeves, I believe it holds around 450-500 discs. Case has wheels for transport.

This one is a little more but holds 320 standard jewel cases, 640 slimline cases and somewhere around 750-800 in sleeves.

we use these for our storage

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1000-CD-DVD-Bla ... 27ca9caf4b

However because they are not as solid we create a wood sleeve/tray to slip solidly on the bottoms. Since they are just used for storage and not carried they stack well and have held up well for over 5 years.

Thanks for the quick responses. Looks like Lonnie's suggestions are the best fit. The other cases use the hanging sleeves which I don't like. Thanks again! This was driving me nuts!

Convert all the standard cases to the slimlines, 2 discs will fit in the place of 1 and still have the same protection as a standard. Only downfall is artwork, the bottom part of the slim line cases can't hold the bottom artwork, the top is the same between the two. So you would need to label each case manually - I use a Brother P-Touch label maker for mine.

That’s the safest way to store cds. I’m not using case logic binders anymore (not to hijack, chris, binders relevant to thread). About 15% of my sc collection develops small pinholes thru the years that they are no longer playable. Yes, 8125 is one of ‘em. From old forum discussion; someone mentioned the pinholes were due to chemicals from the binders that don’t agree with the cds. Kinda weird.

Anyway, I am now using aluminum hard case storage holder exactly like kjflorida’s link.

If you are handy, you can make cases like we did. Add a couple strips to the bottom case and you can dolly them around.

File comment: These are what we use and have for 20 years. We have very few scratches on discs and only had to replace one disc after 18 years.

I use stackable plastic storage bins that drawer out. The drawer height is lightly higher than the CDs so new CDs that are suppose to go in a spot but a case is full can lay on top. They get a real spot when I decide to reorder. CDs are ordered by manu A-Z then serial number. Mine don't move so this works fine for me..

Reminds me of my old carpeted odyssey cases (2000-2001) except these are brand new.

What i remember about them was the weight empty. How much do these weigh Chris?

After those, i opted for the Audio 3000 aluminum cases with rolling wheels.

The price of $90 each sounds good. I remember mine being $169 each.

These are Odyssey cases. They look almost identical to the ones they made 10 years ago. They are carpeted, wooden cases. Case is 23lbs empty. But I don't carry them anywhere. They are simply for local storage and organization. I like them because they feel much more solid than aluminum cases.
