After the Karaoke Cloud screen swipes; it has Chartbuster written all over it. Same colors and same fonts. I guess they don't have to worry about getting sued for using Chartbuster's "TRADE DRESS". I would think that since CAVS was never paid on their victorious law suit against Chartbuster, that they(CAVS) would own their "trade dress". NO?
It stands to reason it would reek of Chartbuster - Digitrax acquired the library. They now own it. CB has no claim to it anymore. Which is why they look the same except for the logo screens. It just doesn't seem to be kosher. If someone files a law suit against me and they get awarded $500,000, I can't turn around and sign over all of my assets to my son and claim bankruptcy. There is always a money trail and it seems like the money trail goes from Chartbuster to Digitrax. If it were me that was owed that kind of money from Chartbuster; I'd be damned sure to file a suit against Digitrax for possession of stolen property. You can't transfer assets when going through a law suit as a back-up plan against a loss in court. I'm sure that if Chartbuster would have won in the court room, we'd still be buying tracks with the Chartbuster logo on them from the Cloud. They screwed CAVS once and that's why they lost in court. Then the screwed CAVS a second time when they refused to make good on the judgement against them by hiding their assets. I can understand why people think that it's all right to steal from them. With so many former Chartbuster employees working for Digitrax; I wouldn't be surprised if some people were charged with Collusion as well. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see.

You stated that you don't like the way their site is set up. You were given various ways to circumvent the problems you were having, and you stated it didn't work for you. You have also stated that as a result, you have no desire to go back and use them. PERIOD!!! END OF POINT! So, why keep whining by repeating that???!!!

Whining vs SHOUTING?
One of the things I'm wondering is if the people who have no trouble were ones who had signed up for the Beta Testing and thus got walked through it.
As someone just coming to the site, there is no clear indication that they sell seperate tracks or where to find them. There is no clear indication that signing up for the Cloud doesn't mean signing up for the Cloud Subscription Service. I had to take someone's word to just go through the process and not to worry--nothing would happen subscription wise unless I went extra steps and gave a credit card. Yet the user agreement was about the Cloud subscription so it was a bit unnerving to agree to it.
Truth be told, I didn't call and pursue it because number one I'm a disc host so can't really use downloads anyway. I had just been given a code for some free songs so wanted to try it out. I was told by someone that it is on the site somewhere that it is okay for disc hosts to burn the downloads to disc and use them in shows but that didn't pop up anywhere that I could see and confirm it.
But number two, if they want business, then they need to know that the frustrations of using their site is driving people away. It is well and good to tell people to pursue it and go the extra mile and call and try to clear it up. But if there is an easier way to buy songs elsewhere then many people will go where a site is more user friendly. And by being on here, if more people say they are having problems then they will know that they may be losing business not just from people who have called but from people who have just given up and gone away.
I would like to be able to support them as I admire that they have gone the extra distance to negotiate download licencing for the US. It is just right now I'm balancing between how much my frustration over rides my admiration.

I'm an ODB KJ as well, and I have used sites like this to purchase new music for my library. It's just a matter of converting the downloaded file onto a burned disc, and keep the receipt as a proof of purchase.

Some sites don't allow it. The Zoom site used to say that if you were going to burn their downloads to discs, please don't use their site but buy a custom disc from ST, etc. instead. It is just my personal preference to not cloud the issue and stick to just original discs/customs.

I had some problems similar to what Jan was complaining about, but Gretchen was extremely helpful in resolving the issues for me. While I agree with leopardlizard personally about preferring to purchase discs, I have to give Chartbuster/Karaoke Cloud their due. They have country songs that nobody else has available and I definitely have people wanting to sing those songs so I'll use them to fill those needs.

If they do, and they can put it on a Custome disc for me, I'll pay for it that way. If they don't offer custom discs, then I have no choice but to buy it as a download and then convert it to disc if I can't find it from the other legit sites.
