Anyone tried any songs made by Big Hits? I stumbled across them a couple weeks back on Custom Burn. From what I can tell, they have a rather small inventory at the moment, chiefly of 2000s/2010s pop and dance music, music quality average. But what really struck me was their graphics and how similar they are to the current Sunfly format (music is different though). Do they coincidentally use the same software as SF or is there something suspicious going on there?

I know a guy who does some of the graphics for Sunfly. He uses Karaoke Builder Studio to make his CD+G files for them. Using KBS was one of the criteria for being hired, I believe. I inquired about doing it for them but they weren't willing to pay what I considered a decent price per track so I bailed.

I'm afraid my impression would not be from a fair sampling. I have exactly one of their discs- BH0302, which is actually a country disc.
Not such a big hit with me. The good news is that they are compilation discs, meaning more oft- used tracks than fluff. In other words, mostly hits (Hence, the name).
The kinda bad news is that they are VERY generic, and I think I remember some icked up lyrics on a couple of tracks, but can't swear to it as I haven't used the thing but a few times quite a while ago.
The label isn't new- they've been around for a few years. However, I don't think they ever made more than 15-20 discs.

I think some people are confused with Big Hitz (One of the many incarnations of Quik Hitz/Fast Tracks etc that have been described in other posts). Big Hits (CIDA Productions) is an Australian based company that focuses primarily on new material tailored to the Australian/UK market. You can buy their tracks on download: http://bighitskaraoke.com/custom-cdg-karaoke/about/I find the songs to be of better than average quality and I was told that they got their start doing tracks for Sunfly in Australia before branching out on their own. Definitely worth a try.

slightly higher. convert from gbp/sterling would be $2.90 Aus So, $2.50 Aus per track will amount to approx $2.60 u.s . (add .04 cents for every au $) Cheers!

I am unable to browse Customburn...."site is unavailable" Funny as I had an email some time ago announcing that they relaunched the site. I sent them an email and they replied that they are only licensed to sell in Europe... So I emailed them back and asked how is it that I can shop at Karaoke-Version and Selectatrack which are also European and they politely told me that those sites are well aware that what they are doing is in violation of the PRS license not to mention US copyright laws. Naughty naughty!

This links works fine fore me. https://customburn.com/cat/index.phpAs for K-V and S-a-T surely they can sell to whoever, wherever but it's up to customer to ensure the venue is licensed if they want to play the songs publicly, no? Or are they (customburn) saying that violating the PRS selling to private/home users abroad?

Naughty naughty! The reason they are blocked for U.S. users is because they are selling Stingray AND Pop Hits Monthly songs for download, which apparently is okay for Europe to purchase and download, but not for the U.S. I f&*^ing hate copyright laws in this country.

That was the only way I was able to get into the site to nose around. By the way, if any of you purchase custom discs directly from the Sing To The World (who runs the Cutstomburn) website, they are switching to the download model as well, and will be unavailable to the U.S. soon. So order what you can now. It irks me, because I have been a loyal customer of theirs for years, have spent a lot of money on custom discs, and now I am getting ejected because of copyright law. Shame on me for being a sucker and paying for my music.

Publishing laws, not copyright.

I would think that everyone knows someone on the internet who lives in Europe who can buy a song for you and then e-mail it to you.

The issue with the site, even if you can access it, is that it requires you to register in order to purchase. They ask for your address and the U.S. isn't an option.
