Hi. I use a program called Goldwave to record, not Cool Edit. Someone said they heard "hiss" in my songs (I don't hear it, frankly) and to get rid of it. I don't use most of the effects in Goldwave (don't have time to learn it) but I was wondering if anyone knows the program and where I can get rid of the hiss in there?
Here is the main effects menu:
Effect menu
Doppler
Dynamics
Echo
Compressor/Expander
Filter
Flanger
Interpolate
Invert
Mechanize
Offset
Pitch
reverb
reverse
stereo
time warp
volume
And here is the
Filter submenu
Bandpass/stop
equalizer
low/highpass
noise reduction
parametric EQ
pop/click
silence reduction
smoother
I was wondering if anyone knows the program and can help me...if not, I will email Goldwave and see if they know.
Thanks!!

That he hooks his amp to his PC and records.. so when you do that KJ DennDog, you get your vocals too? I can hook into my PC but I only get what is coming straight from the CD+G not my mic.
Is there a way around this?

OK, now that the rules on links have been relaxed, I can post this, that I made some time ago... its a direct answer to the questions here, is not advertising anything and is pertinent information to recording with Cool Edit Pro...
Its the Complete Newbies, Never-Tried-it Before Guide to Recording in Cool Edit Pro, complete with instructions and screenshots.
I hope you find it useful

How do I change the format of my songs to mp3 so I can load them on this site for people to rate?

save the format to mp3 using cool edit pro (should be in the program's help file),
OR
take the finished .wav product, and save it to mp3 using a freeware program called "goldwave". from goldwave.com

Talk about stepping into a complex program.
I have the demo version installed and it looks like the program is something a pro would use.
Heh.. I guess I could learn to use it...
