When I was young....I heard this song on one of my parent's old tapes. I have no idea as to who sings it, who wrote it, or even what kind of music it would be under!

I can't so a search for it because the song name is so simple that anything and everything comes up :(

Anyway, the song is called "He"....the lyrics are by Richard Mullan, and the music is by Jack Richards. I got that off of a piece of sheet music I have (or if you want to see the actual sheet music...I can scan it in and post the .jpgs).

I will include the lyrics...just incase that may ring a bell for anyone :) I would appreciate any help in finding the actual song, or a backing or anything....who sang it, etc. etc. It is such a beautiful song :)

Thanks :)

Roo

THE SONG:

HE

He can turn the tides and calm the angry sea.
He alone decides who writes a symphony.
He lights every star that makes our darkness bright.
He Keeps watch all through each long an lonely night.
He still finds the time to hear a child's first prayer.
Sait or sinner call and always find him there.
Though it makes him sad to see the way we live,
He'll always say, "I Forgive".

He can grant a wish or make a dream come true.
He can paint the clouds and turn the gray to blue.
He alone knows where to find the rainbow's end.
He alone can see what lies beyond the bend.
He can touch a tree and turn the leaves to gold.
He knows every lie that you and I have told.
Though it makes him sad to see the way we live,
He'll always say, "I Forgive", "I Forgive".

Here is your answer, with guitar chords etc.

http://www.theguitarguy.com/he.htm

You can find just about any song by putting part of the lyrics in Google. :)

Thanks for your help!

I do have sheet music that has the chords and the actual piano notes on it..so I can make myself an instrumental (if I ever get off my lazy butt....and I have to get the stuff that can hook up a keyboard and my guitar to my computer).

I would like an actual singer version (mp3) of it though....I just can't find it anywhere :( ....but I have seen an artist on the song you found for me....so I am checking it out right now :)

I do appreciate the help :) THank you very much :)

Well, if you go to the link I posted, it says "Recorded by the McGuire Sisters, 1955"
Those may have been the original artists.

Thanks Gilly! I downloaded both of your links...the McGire sisters is not the version that I have heard before....it is a little more loud LOL!

I remember the one that I had had such a great, soft voiced lady singing it :)

Both of them added way to much music and stuff to it.....just not the same :(

Thanks guys! Appreciate it a lot that you would look for me! I just think it is one of those long lost songs I will never be able to find :(

Hey Rits! I hope you find what you're looking for. My mom & dad used to sing that same song and I have the sheet music around here somewhere too...I'll ask my mom and sis if they know any of the original artists or anything else about it! :D

Well, it's hard to find a specific singer of an old song because they get covered so much.

It appears that the McGuire Sisters and Al Hibler are the two major recordings of this particular song.

Keep in mind that since it's a gospel song there will be LOTS of people that may record it over a number of years.

I'd tell you to check CDDB but because of the title it's difficult to do a search for it. You could include the artist, but that would be using the answer you're looking for as search term... sort of a cart before the horse sort of thing.

Can you tell us if there are any marking on the cassette? What other songs are on the cassette? Are the other songs of the same people?

You might want to see if there is a search for gospel music online that might more accurately target this song. I tried a couple to no avail though.

I found that Tammy Wynette did this song -- maybe that's who you had heard.
