Maybe he was just a Broadway show tune hater. They probably came to realize that their sales didn't warrant the effort put into making that particular genre of music. I for one, won't miss it AT ALL and I think most singers would feel the same way. I love karaoke but I really don't like any Broadway music.

Bruce, He's talking about Stage Stars, ALL they make are showtunes. As far as singers hating showtunes, I don't have a night go by without a number of them being done. I've had nights where a good 30% or more of the songs sung were showtunes, it just depends on the night, and the fact that I have a larger showtune library than most of the KJ's in my area.

There will always be nights where a group of people who like show tunes all show up on the same night and even then, 30% isn't even a majority. I go to karaoke quite often and I've gone months without hearing a show tune and I've been to places where a couple of people would be there once in a blue moon and they would like Show Tunes I'm just saying that around here, the percentage of show tunes getting sung would probably be less than 3% on average. If my business was to make only show tunes, I would expand into Country , Pop ,and Classic Rock in hopes of building up more sales. I'm sure that more Show Tunes are sung in karaoke bars in a place like Manhattan, NY but I believe those places would be more of an exception and not the rule.

I’ve never been to a karaoke which plays some of the best 1970s Broadway musicals. That would be interesting. I have many favorites from that era like “Grease” and “Pippin”.
