well melly I was responding to suzanne's comment primarily when you posted yours before i had posted mine so yours came inbetween suzanne's and mine... not that it makes a different because my opinion, just like yours, is as valid as anyone on here, whether you agree with it or not... referring to the two groups that suzanne mentioned, and you agreed to be in the fluff one, is exactly what I was jumped forpointing out a month ago and was flamed that it was not true... the people who jumped me back then NOW say that comments aren't mandatory, that they aren't really honest but meant to support etc which is opposite of what they were saying last month... I stand by my statement just as you stand by yours- both are right- both are wrong- either way we each will get over it or we won't... or maybe I should just translate into fluffese- AWESOME!! WOO HOO GREATEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD, SEEN, TASTED, BREATHED or FELT!!! MORE MORE MORE MORE!!!!

now onto the next sub, no matter what it sounds like:
AWESOME!! WOO HOO GREATEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD, SEEN, TASTED, BREATHED or FELT!!! MORE MORE MORE MORE!!!!

and the next one:
AWESOME!! WOO HOO GREATEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD, SEEN, TASTED, BREATHED or FELT!!! MORE MORE MORE MORE!!!!

and still another:

kinda takes the meaning away when the comments all look the same... again though, it may just be my speakers, acid reflux or the band... take your pick...-tig

hi suzanne, I am not picky just realistic... when I read that something is the best thing since sliced bread or darn near perfect, then listen, and realize the bar on "perfect" has been set so low, that I do tend to get snappy ... unfortunately I agree with how you say you are gonna comment on subs but realize that your honesty is gonna have a backlash because they are more interested in fluff than honesty... your reason for not commenting when you listen to a bad sub is spot on... ok I am done agreeing... -tig

I must agree that most comments are probably not entirely helpful in making improvements, but it doesn't hurt to get a bit of encouragement either. Taking the comments as written with a grain of salt is the best way to deal with this. I suspect that 99% of the people who post here do it for fun, anyway--- so lets just all have a good time. I think a better indicator of someone's talent (or at least how popular) would be the number of views thqt a submission gets, anyway. Its just a shame that if a song gets just a few number of views, considering the effort that had to go into making the submission in the first place, that it would be like time wasted for the individual who submitted it in the first place.

Anyway, enough rambling. Just wanted to contribute my $.02 worth.

I agree dying moose, but then they complained about their view totals not matching their comment totals divided by the square root of fluff... can't win for losing...-tig

well I for one LIKE to be fluffed! ! I know I'm not perfect and I know I sure as hell can't hit some of the notes in my subs, but I don't care. It's karaoke! BUT at the same time...... I'm not gonna be all bitter and sour if someone gives me an HONEST opinion....especially if they're being constructive....

and if they're bein mean....well.....F### 'em!! !


and PS..... I agree with what Tigrr says though. I remember this very discussion a while back (the two groups thing) and people (I don't know exactly WHO) havin' a hairy bird over the whole idea that someone would WANT fluff....which OBVIOUSLY some people do. So let's leave eachother to their own preferences, shall we?

I wasn't saying that I overdo the comments. I think what you are not seeing, Tigrr is that everyone has different opinions and levels of quality. When I say something like "Fantastic!' then I really mean it. Your opinion may differ from that. Your standards are probably higher, is what I'm saying. So you are expecting people to have the exact same standards as you are when you read the comments, and that's not fair because we are all different.

For me, if I think it's good enough that I would want to keep a recording of it and listen to it over and over, I give it a ten. If I hear a sour notes or their voice is not that good, I give it a 9, and so on. I don't give anything less than a 6 because ones that I feel are that bad, I stop listening to and don't comment on or give a rating. My comments pretty much go along with that.

Also I have to say the song choice is a big factor. If it's a song I don't know or don't like, that can affect my opinion, although I try not to let it be too much of a negative thing.

So there are many variables and all we can do is our best. If you don't like the comments, nothing much I can do about that...why not do what I do, just listen to all of them and decide for yourself? Or at least, as many as you can. You can also keep a list of the members that you really don't like, so you can skip them in the future.

I am american, dear crystal, I do not have to accept anything because I am sure I can find a lawyer somewhere that can make it happen I guess I will hafta be like everyone else on this site and keep lists of who listened to who, who commented on who, who listened back to who I listened to, who fluffed versus who didn't fluff, who listened but didn't comment, who commented but didn't listen, who listened to the whole sub VS who threw their speakers out the window, who replied to the comments versus who didn't reply, who gave a 10 and meant it versus those who gave a 9 and meant it.... man I understand fully now why people have gotten so defensive over this stuff.. that is alot of lists to keep track of for fun... I stand corrected... -tig

Aw Well, i thing we just agree to disagree tig. And i leave it at that for me.

It is ok Crystal.. I am currently working on a Honesty to Fluff converter to keep me out of trouble... so then I will be able to type my real feelings on subs and then just CLICK and Ta-Da! it is converted into fluff... it just might work... - tig

I hope you're being facetious about the lists...I can't think that people would have enough time to do that and still have time to listen and comment. I only keep a list of the people who I think are really great but it is getting too long

I am never facetious suzanne... go back and read some of the past threads and you will see the lists we are referring to... of course I am awaiting the denial responses that these lists exist... crap I forgot to use my fluff converter during this post... maybe next time- tig

I wish I had time to go back and read older posts...I barely have time to post here and still listen!

Well, so what if some people want to keep lists. That's their business why do you care? Just sub, listen and make comments, ignore everyone else...except me, of course

been there and tried that suzanne... that is why I have deleted all my subs because of how ridiculous it is... knowing you from other forums online I already have you on my list to ignore... but like you said why should you care??? -tig
