Just wondering how many of the D.K. songs--if any does Digitrax have the rights to.Does anyone out there know?
I was told they are offering them in the packages.

8) You would have to check with Gretchen who oversees Cloud and is the main spokes person for DT. From what I understand they have a license to offer the DK product on Cloud. They have no rights to produce product or to sell physical product. Also Cloud can offer no legal protection for any material on the Cloud service, except for that which they own the rights to CB/DT. If this is not correct then I wish someone with more knowledge to give some clarification on this matter.

Digitrax sells the entire DK Library as a package. They have a downloadable songlist and it appears to contain the entire DK Library.

However, a search for downloadable DK songs is inconsistent. "Surf City" can be downloaded, but "Crocodile Rock" cannot. "Ebony and Ivory" is also not available for DK (or any other vendor). "Ain't That a Shame" does exist though.

Will need to ask Gretchen about what from DK is available for download and why not all of it.

The thing I'm having a problem with Chris is certified hosts are trying to imply that DT would be able legally to go after hosts using the DK product in their show. I have seen no evidence of this, or that DT/PR have the legal right to start suing hosts for the use of the DK product.

I have not seen any certified hosts suggesting this on these forums. Regardless, if DTE has worked out a legitimate deal with DK to distribute the DK line, it is quite possible they have also secured a legal position to go after hosts that use it.

It shouldn't matter to you either way though since you have a full DK set.

Have a Wonnermous Day.

man i would just buy both the dk super cdg's for $100 or less, it's 1810 songs. and then just rip them to the hdd......

why pay for them on digitrax?

i mean at $100 i'd rather pay .055 cents a song.......

i do own dk original 1-87 already, but i did buy the 2 scdg's for $79 for a second rig.

it's a no brainer....

8) True not on this forum I was referring to the Free Forum, Insane is the one really pushing the idea of DTE being able to start taking a legal position on the DK label. Which to me seems silly since PR hasn't really been aggressive about the CB label as compared to SC. There is no protection given under cloud by the service provider to protect the host or the venue from possible legal action of manus except maybe in the case of the CB/DT product. Unless anyone has proof of DTE having secured a legal position to go after hosts, then all this is mere speculation, in order to whip up a sense of fear, that really should not have to exist. Have a blessed day.

The Cheer leaders want everyone to live in fear of having a law suit filed against them. They want everyone to think that there is a karaoke Boogie Man lurking behind every corner when there are probably less than a handful of "investigators" who have to cover the entire country, one little area at a time. It's kind of like trying to find needles in hay stacks. That's why you hardly ever hear about people getting put out of business. The worst thing that ever happens to these KJs when they get caught is they get forced into buying a GEM series and they're back in business...if they were ever out of business even for a little while.

I hear that Sound Images will be the next company that starts suing KJs for media shifting their products. LOL

I have been labeled by many as a cheerleader.

I want there to be repercussions for those that cheat the system. I want thieves to be treated as thieves. I want there to be some sort of penalty that is enough of a deterrent that it makes people think twice about using karaoke music they didn't obtain properly. I want the manufacturers and everyone else involved to be compensated properly for the works they produce.

I also want people to learn how to use the CAPS lock key properly and use a spell checker (at the very least look up from the keyboard to what was typed before clicking submit).

Good Luck with all of that. I type too quickly, for a guy that only uses a few fingers to do it, and I'm not a good typist at all. If that bothers you all that much though, I'll go back and correct my typing mistakes so you can sleep better tonight. Don't think you'll get much help with the others issues you have.

People start and go out of business all the time with little or no fanfare. Why would someone on the East Coast know if John Doe's Karaoke out in Lala Land either went into or went out of business (either voluntary or not) and vice versa. Heck most people would be unaware of it in their own cities, especially the larger ones or even in their state/province.

Um, no. No grounds. They don't own the music, the graphics, the lyrics, or the trademark. They can't even offer protection for a host that downloads them.

If that statement was put out there, it is completely false- period.

Also, as always, when checking licensing, one checks the licensing source, not the distributor.

Me too. Unfortunately, SC isn't targeting the people against whom there is any evidence of theft. They didn't want to bother investigating the thefts, so they simply found another income model, and bury it's ( IMHO) unethical use through misdirection.

I would add something else. Folks here keep saying Kurt this, and Kurt that. While in the end, he is certainly responsible for SC's actions, something else came to my mind. To design this particular income setup, one would have to have a legal backround. I'm not sure, but I don't think Kurt fits the bill.

I believe a lawyer came up with, designed, and executed the plan- with Kurt's approval, of course- but Kurt didn't do it himself.

If I make widgets, and came in one morning to find a lot of widgets missing, I would investigate and hope to find the widget thief or thieves. I would not simply decide to sue someone who bought some widgets from me last week because it it was more convenient than investigating.
