While we have several thousand SC songs 80% of which are on the gem series add-ons, I do not have every single disc ever put out by them. Having said that, I have most of the CB collection along with several Sunfly, DK & other good brands. I had a guy last night that did NOTHING but complain about my song selection (almost 15k songs) and the fact that they were not on SC format. He wanted to only sing country and I tried to get him to sing those songs on CB. When he refused I asked why and was told he doesnt like CB.....here's the kicker.....he has never sang one CB song. I told him to try it before he rejected that the SC Gods were the only quality manu out there. He complained to everyone around him, then left. Aside from that, we had 34 in the rotation and had a fun filled night!

You won't miss a guy like that at your show; not with a rotation of 34 people. He might be a competitor that uses mainly SC tracks or he might be a pirate looking to steal your show by claiming to have all of the SC Library at his disposal or he might just be a singer who always bought SC tracks for himself and that is what he is used to singing along to. Many reasons for his behavior. He might just be a cheerleader?

Don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out! I'm sure you aren't the first one he bashed and I wouldn't let it bother me!

Sad thing is I know him, and where he sings at 99% of the time. That KJ has pretty much all SC, but has been at it 21 years . So I guess he is spoiled with it. But I tried to explain that Most, not all, country I prefer on CB as do many other people. But you are correct, don't let the door hit you on the way out! I even offered to buy a select few of his favorite songs on SC Disc for in the future...no pleasing some people lmao

Aside from that, we had 34 in the rotation and had a fun filled night! I have been hosting for over 18 years now and never had one singer insist on SC. A good 50% of my patrons bring their own discs and the rest are happy to sing what I have available. The most requests I get are DK which is the core of my library. If any one asks why I don't carry SC, I just tell them I chose not to support their product. That seems to satisfy everyone so far. Sounds like this singer didn't know much about music, most of the SC country I hear is not as good as CB. Of course that is why I also carry CB. If you got 34 people on the rotation don't worry about one diva, there is always one in the crowd. Rock On.

I've had many, many singers request SC, and since we have loads of SC I'm happy to oblige. But getting haughty and leaving over it seems terribly snooty. I like Sound Choice too, man, but there's no real excuse for being a diva about it. But yeah, 34 singers sounds like you're doing fine without him.

I get the SC preference many times as well (much of my selection is on SC so usually can oblige) but never had anyone get all huffy like that if I didn't have a version on SC.

and it happens all the time.

Sound Choice hasn't put out a "NEW" song in years. I guess you mean a song that the singer has never sung before?

I'd rather have SoundChoice tracks for most other genres, but safe for exactly one track (Jace Everett's "Bad Things"), I'd prefer CB as a singer.

CB does a good job with country tracks, but they're not the greatest with other genres. Having said that,I have never heard a terrible CB track, so, while they wouldn't ever be my first choice, they wouldn't ever drive me away from a show , either. It sounds like the guy who complained either had an agenda or issues. In any case, I bet the other 34 singers didn't weep when he left.

There's usually at least one in every venue. Next.....

His mentality just speaks to the normal position many have taken when loving a certain product. They tend to wear blinders to the fact that other products are just as good in some cases. Example; We had a guy swear up and down that Sweet Georgia Brown was the best ever and when listening to CB or SC, he clearly said it was junk. Now all of you in here are most likely laughing and spitting all over your computer just about now! . Yet allow us to give some insight on the mental stability of the person. Some people get used to something that could potentially distort the way they view other things. A comfort level that paralyzes them from having an expanded open mind. Also remember a guy that owned a set of $120.00 wireless mic that broke within a year. He then wanted assistance in trying to get a better set. $400 and 2 days later, he was staring at a nice AKG dual wireless mics. The first thing this guy said was this is junk. Reasonable deduction would tell you otherwise. Instead of blurting out the first words that came into my head "Are you NUTS" I calmly tried to hijack his brain and figure out how he came to that conclusion. During the conversation, he talked about the fact that he could hear handling noise as he kept moving his hand around on the mic, where he did not hear that with the other ones. As we dissected his position, he admits that it did have a much cleaner sound when singing. Much stronger signal over his much cheaper mics as well. The first thing you want to tell someone like that when wishing to debate back is "Uh, stop stroking the mic so much and you would not have that problem, or understand the proper distance you sing from the mic based upon several factors, etc. So he was wrong to take such an aggressive / narrow sighted view, yet right in knowing what he got used to and preferred. Or another person that wants to be the best karaoke host he can be, yet refuses to believe that there are much better mixers out there than your traditional karaoke mixing amplifier. this is a case where you must weight the customers desire for simplicity. Even though you could present a mixer that would crush the cheaper karaoke amplifier, the karaoke amp wins hands down to those that will remain resistant to the learning curve of more intimidating looking product. Hope that made sense. Sorry for the rambling, no sleep. Possibly slap happy. Trying to write blogs/guides on piracy, counterfeiting, etc. and trying to figure out ways to get more exposure for them. If I asked for the blessing of people in here. Would you allow us to open a thread that posted different consumer scenerios on how karaoke shoppers are continually given unbelievable deals that have given a huge false impression on what the consumer should be spending for such packages others are willing to peddle. Example; Internet has many sites with loaded hard drives with everything for hundreds of dollars. Or most recent customer experience where he was offered a loaded karaoke and dj laptop with over 36,000 combined songs I believe for $1,200.00. Would the regulars in here have an issue with me starting such a thread to post these things for exposure? These will be true stories and most written as I come across them. MADPROAUDIO ~ DISABLED VETERAN ~ FAMILY OWNED COMPANY. Hopefully you like our profile picture of a homemade burnt scdg disc. Those discs have plagued the market for years. The more awareness to drive the educating process for the many future consumers getting started in the karaoke/dj market, the better!

Sounds more than a typical 'cheerleader' agenda - more like a competitive complaining to stir crap because they aren't as successful. Even 'cheerleaders' don't go off on kj's if they don't have all SC. I have had this type of complaint in the past just because I didn't have a song that another company had, only to find out the complainer WAS the company in question.

True story: We were out for my sisters B-day party at a real hole in the wall karaoke bar. The karaoke host was slurred at best, had some of the cheapest equipment. I mean karaoke mics you would find at the flea market. He had no personality. Yet the guy shocked us with about every SC karaoke disc ever made! 99% of his library was top grade. Now we have seen him buy SC disc for years, just never seen his equipment before. What an oxymoron (was that right?).
Do you know that the city we were in, most people were not used to quality karaoke tracks. Everyone would break out the Chartbuster or lower brands and even though you knew SC was some of the best. Those that never sung soundchoice brands actually did not like it because they were used to singing average, not better. We got a good laugh out of the whole thing. Every time I would sing, during the intermission in the song, I would make random announcements that it was 20 cent hot dog night, or other crazy advertisement talk. Even though many at the bar were laughing, this guy was so unhappy and was completely lost as to even the simplest of jokes. Sorry if I got off the subject. That just popped into my head.

I hope Sound Choice doesn't find out he's using crappy equipment to play their discs, might damage their brand to the consumer...
