anhnguyen310, please be slightly more specific.

midi into karaoke is normally a *.kar file, which still requires a midi sound module to play. The files you have downloaded, are they CD+G files (*.bin or mp3+cdg)?

the files i downloaded are midi files. the place i downloaed them from said they already have lyrics as well. all i have to do was change them into .kar files. I did just that and burned them onto a cd to play on my CAVS CDO-98E
player. I burned files as midi before i changed them to .kar as well and they both dont work. Thanx again

Nope, that won't work, sorry! You need audio files plus their graphics (CD+G) where as midi and kar files are just binary files containing the midi information that will be send to trigger your midi device.

Not an easy task, close to impossible. Converting midi to CDG.......lots and lots of time. First you need to record the midi through a soundcard in order to make them MP3, or possibly use a midi to mp3 converter(don't know if that exists, use google to find out) Then the kar file lyrics need to be done in a differnet program (something from MTU probably) and then the lyrics need to be synch'd to the music?!?!??!
That will take weeks for a non acceptable result. I would rather buy some music from the cav's suppliers if I were in your shoes.

You can burn your own CD's, but from a mp3 & cdg format, NOT from mid or kar files

Thanks for the info, but please no private advertising here!
anhnguyen310Just keep in mind that a midi or kar file will never EVER have the quality of a live band sound!

FYI - The CAVS CD)-98E player is a midi based player and does not play CD+G's (based on the marketing information I've seen thus far but I could be wrong). I think he's tryng to burn a midi karaoke cd. I don't know how the midi karaoke CD's are formatted so I can't help. Your best bet is to find an existing disc and then match the formatting for your cd when you burn it. Midi karaoke discs can be had extremely cheap from a variety of sources (the sponsors might even have a few).
BTW, the player will also play VCD's so you can covert CD+G to MP3+CDG to AVI to MPG to burn a VCD if you want to (I did this for a compliation to use in a contest). You 'could' add the changing of midi/kar to MP3+CDG to start with for a conversion of his existing files.
And as Allstar said, the midi files just won't have the fidelity, clarity, or accurate sound of MP3+CDG or CD+G's that use instruments in recording (There are some that use midi to create the CD+G's.... )
