Do you want us to NOT call him out, and continue to help the alleged (not guilty until proven in a court of law) offender, or do you want us to run him off and take his offensive attitude elsewhere? PowerKaraoke has proof that he is running a pirated copy of their software because you cannot load 250k worth of songs into the database with a trial version, and they know he did not purchase a license. What would you like us to do in the future? We are all lovers of karaoke, but we can't be so willing to help that we lose sight of our best interests.

This is not a forum people would ever come back to. All my post got deleted and moved to a different section. People here constantly accuse me of stealing. They want me to prove that I am not a crook before they will help. I predict this website will be gone in less than year. Why would anyone come here for help? The internet is a big place with a lot of info. People like me will go elsewhere.

I don't know, for sure, who is a pirate or not. BUT.
If you register at a Mercedes forum and mention that your newly acquired sedan has all the VIN numbers removed, you shouldn't be surprised if everyone asks how the hell you legitimately bought the car.

Apparently, your posts got moved because your statements indicate that you are committing piracy and the people whom you've offended called you out on it. We had another member join this board who outright stated that he was going to steal his music to get started. You think we're being rough on you? This industry (and our $$) has been severely damaged by people who are shall we say "less than honest" when it comes to having a huge collection of karaoke tracks and the source of that collection. People come here for help because this site is the largest and longest running site that has the people who actually are involved in the industry. Don't be so touchy. Snap a picture of this massive collection of CD+G's and post it. I'd be willing to help with a little good faith gesture from you. If you want to be offended and move on to another site, that's your choice. You won't find the knowledge and experience that is available here, anywhere else.

It just seems to be the case, once someone is called out, they don't return.

They got moved to a section of the forum that is specifically created for this since it was pulling the original topic completely off. Again, 250,000 songs is almost unheard of in a legit manner which is BIG red flags for ALL of us.

A point most are making is NO ONE here has seen a legitimate 250,000 song collection. It's the unicorn of karaoke collections. That size collect exists, but only in the glued on horn to a white horse, bought the drive from craigslist for $250 world. Maybe you exaggerated the number of tracks and it seems like that many or, hell, maybe you do have those original discs. It would be the next biggest discovery to Big Foot. Bigger... But no one here will believe it without smelling the thing's breath.
Again, the other issue is you said you tested the demo of Siglos Pro and it was slow "with 250,000 tracks" but the demo only allows 250 songs. That's a limited version so you can test the product fully (I assume) but you can't load a full catalog into it until you purchase the product and unlock it. So if you really downloaded the demo and were really able to load in 250,000 songs, Powerkaraoke would really like to know because there must be a bug that needs fixing and fast. But I am sure he feels very secure in his product and doesn't think there is any way it could be done. Maybe you demoed then bought it. At that point I am sure Powerkaraoke would offer a huge thank you but you said "Demo".
I don't know how those pirated drives come but I am sure they come with the stuff it takes to run a show. So it's only logical to assume that the hosting software is pirated as well if you haven't purchased from him.
Last, you may think we are fixated on this issue. Almost everyone that posts in these forums hosts, has hosted or creates products for the industry so this isn't your typical karaoke site. Maybe we are fixated on this but it's a huge issue for the entire industry and we are very passionate about this industry. I believe firmly in the artists and producers getting their part and illegally obtained music and software does not provide to them at all. I've written software and feel strongly about it from that front as well. This isn't a site of villagers running around with pitch forks. Read the help and awesome information in most of the threads. But it is a place where the users can spot someone with a pirated drive and they aren't very kind in reacting to it. It's gonna take a little more than "trust me" to change minds here.

...Come on, show us some pics of your Karaoke Discs. Take your laptop, log onto the KS Site, pull up this thread, pull out a few hundred cdg's, feather them out in front of the laptop and take a picture (so we can see the KSF Thread in the background on your laptop and the cdgs in the front of your laptop) and then post 'em here. If you don't want to do that, so be it. Not a biggie.

To the op - if you don’t want to be called a pirate then read the above post from MadMusicOne. Short of that you will be perceived as such until proven otherwise. That’s all you have to do. Take heed & prove it!

I have been running shows for 23 years. I have 2 full rigs + a smaller rental and I only have about 5700 total disks + a GEM, and some of the old Jolt forum members who saw my library years ago would tell you I have always been a disk #hore. With everything this is roughly 80000 total tracks between 3 rigs. My 2 main systems have about 25000 songs (unique) each and the rental has about 5000 songs. I can't fathom spending the money for that many tracks and dups. and my investment is over 130,000.00 over the years. Remember years ago lasers 100.00 to 150.00 dk and pioneer 39-49 each sc and mm 25 to 37 each etc. I know the library could legally be duplicated cheaper today, but it would still be a 20000 investment per rig
I'm sorry unless the person hit the lottery, 250,000 songs in 1 rig is a pirate (and if legal not very bright since they spent a lot of money duplicating what they had.)

Same as Lonman also, I think. Probably not too many of us started with lasers & still working. My transition from mobile dj to kj 20+yrs ago – I also started with Pioneer lasers @ $150 a pop. Bought the dk99 set, the MMs while at the same time trying to complete my laser collection. Then sc, th, & almost all the odd brands. Pioneer jumps on the bandwagon, re-copies tracks from the laser & released them as cdg format. Purchased those too. And I’m still buying music to this day. No longer using lasers btw. My tracks used to be 15k until I purchased CB 12k hd, lots of old country added that pushed my total count to a meager 20k+, no dupes. A far cry from op’s total of 250k.

Request a song & the kj rewinds or forward the tape to the right cue mark. Read the lyrics from a sheet of paper prompt onto a tripod music stand. A Realistic mic & speakers made by Radio Shack. Was that my first karaoke set-up? “No admit, no deny”. All I have to say is we’ve really come a long way.

I still use my laserdiscs - in mpg format though! These are still preferred versions by many. I retired the tape deck a few years ago (2006 or 07), would occasionally have people bringing in a cassette, but it became so rare and I had most of the songs (same music versions oftentimes) that there was no point in the hassle anymore.

Hey Judgeless: that would be me.............. I was that member. I ended up changing my mind on that plan. Now I have about 3,500, because I have been buying them little by little, when I can. I have gotten a few shows here and there with my little collection and people have had fun. I have filled my computer with what I can, and I use my Sound Choice discs as discs (real PITA, but oh well), and I download from Tricerasoft and S-a-T. Meanwhile, I thank everyone that DID jump all over me, because it made me realize that getting in trouble for having illegitimate karaoke tracks wouldn't be worth it. That being said, I do not agree with most of the other things these people have to say, here, where certain other subjects are concerned. If you read the forums you will see MASSIVE opposition from me to certain things. But I am telling you, as one start-up to another, do NOT use the crap that is on that hard drive, unless you have the discs to back it up. Just some friendly advice. I am not one that will join in with the rest of these people, and beat the crap out of you. I am just trying to warn you.
