That all comes down to taste.
okay instead of Caddie/Chevy let's go Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator. The Ford MSRP $40,000 - 53,000. The Lincoln $57,000 - 62,000. Both the same vehicle with the Lincoln maybe having a few more gadgets and maybe a bit better trim. So that is the same manufacturer and essentially the same vehicle.
Now in the realm of karaoke SC (like it or not) has overall the best renditions of the songs made by any of the others. That's not to say the rest are crap but the quality is there. It is a premium product. Even most of those opposed to what SC is doing will agree to that.

While I would agree that SC makes a nice product in general. other manufacturers routinely out perform them in specific genres, IMHO. Examples would be Doo-Wop, Country, Broadway/Theatre, specific artists, and in many area of Pop.
However, the point is moot, and I don't quite understand why they were brought. To my knowledge, they have yet to sign on with the KC.

selectatrack.com used to sell chartbuster song tracks but somebody turned them in to the lic board and the lic board made them take down all the chartbuster song tracks I had 10 of them lined up to buy then the next day I went to buy them and they were gone from my shopping cart and I asked selectatrack why was my shopping cart empty and they said we had to remove some songs from the site those songs were chartbuster song tracks and the only time I can think of is somebody from a karaoke site called singsnap.com bitched at me on youtube for singing a chartbuster song and according to a few suspended members singsnap thinks they own the rights to chartbusters and is the only karaoke site allowed to sing chartbusters but 2 days after I sang 2 songs that were branded chartbuster my favorite karaoke store selectatrack.com had to remove all of the song tracks that says chartbuster coincidence I think not .

All this talk and beating the cloud issue and Gem set issue to death will have absolutely no effect on anything untill the owners of their product defend their rights (if they have any) These token lawsuits here and there will not ever help them get to a profit ever.Cloud and the GEM series will both end up dead issues.

Hey Everyone,
Alot of you on here know me. I was formerly with Chartbuster. When Chartbuster closed it's doors I was just as shocked as all of you were. I had been with them for 11 years.
I then applied for DigiTrax Entertainment. I was lucky enough to be brought on board. We have been taking in all suggestions and working very hard to make all of our products work for everyone!
There seems to be alot of confusion regarding the Karaoke Cloud and Karaoke Cloud Pro. The Pro version is for those of you who are looking to get another rig going.
Being a former KJ myself, we understand that this option is not for the established KJ. That is why we have the Karaoke Cloud. Yes it is the consumer version however, KJs can go on and purchase New Hits and individual songs for digital download. These songs can be used in a commercial setting as long as the bar owner is paying their fees.
We also know that $1.99 per song seems a bit high. With that being said, we are covering ALL of the licenses for the Catalogs up on the Karaoke Cloud. After paying licensing fees as well as fees to the other manufactures we could not go lower.
If any of you have questions please do not hesitate, I will answer them to the best of my ability!!
Gretchen

Couple of questions please, Gretchen.
1. Is it true that Greg (Taylor) is no longer with DT? 2. Any chance you can disclose all manu brands avail for downloads? Thanks!

Gretchen I have a question -- I LIKE having a disc to prove I'm one for one. I purchased a Select-A-Track disc recently which had what I thought were "Chartbusters" tracks on it. The disc I received has the tracks marked as "Karaoke Cloud" and I have ripped them to my computer for use in my shows. Ok or any issues with this? I don't really like purchasing digital downloads because I don't understand how I would ever prove I paid for them...

BigJer wrote: I don't really like purchasing digital downloads because I don't understand how I would ever prove I paid for them... With every Select-a-Track and Karaoke-Version purchase I make, I receive an email confirmation of the purchase. I also make payments only through PayPal for an additional "paper" trail. So proving purchase is as simple as keeping that information. -Chris

so let me see if I understand the concept of the cloud karaoke set up. Somewhere in a single location, there is a hard drive or a server with many hard drives that literally thousands of people can access at the same time and play whatever songs they want to play that happen to be on that server, right? That sounds very similar to the guy selling pre loaded hard drives to thousands of people. The only difference is that you don't have the hard drive with the songs in your possession but someone is just allowing you access to it. I'm confused.

The difference is one is paying a licence to distribute and the other is not.

timberlea wrote: The difference is one is paying a licence to distribute and the other is not. At least that is what they want people to believe. All Hits Karaoke probably wanted people to believe that too. I find it hard to believe that the Chartbuster songs are being legally licensed now when many of them weren't licensed in the first place. I would think that CAVS would own the rights to the CB library and just because their title screens were removed...the "trade Dress" would still make them CB tracks in the eyes of the law if all of that trade dress talk actually means anything. Or are we just supposed to take their word for it that they are all licensed properly?

Why would CAVS own anything? They won a monetary lawsuit, doesn't mean they aquired their library.

OK, I am going to try to get to all of your questions.
Brian- Unfortunately Greg is no longer with the company. The manu's that are on board with the Karaoke Cloud are as follows:
1. The old Chartbuster Catalog 2. Sunfly 3. SBI 4. Stage Stars 5. Mr. Entertainer 6. DK 7. Magic Music
There are more to come and not all of them are up yet. We are uploading daily.
Lady Matika- If you purchase digital downloads on the Karaoke Cloud you do not have to use paypal.
Bruce- All of the tracks that are up on the Karaoke Cloud are Fully licensed. We are taking the time to license ALL of the tracks that go up, from all of the manu's that way we know they are licensed. That is why you will find out of Chartbuster's 12,000 songs only 2,700 are up at this time. We are in negotiations with all of the publishers and so far Sony, EMI, and Warner are on board. As soon as more publishers come on board you will find many more tracks being released.
I hope this helps!!!

They just closed up shop and opened up under another name..... a la ALL HITS, DANGEROUS, SWEET GEORGIA BROWN AND many other karaoke producers in the past. They just coincidentally have many of the same people in the managemnet positions too. Yeah. That's the ticket.
