I wanted to put a song on of my daughter singing, which we already have on the pc.

My problem is, its a wav file, when I try to change it to mp3, using 'Audacity' it says I need lame, which I have d/loaded but it still says could not open mp3 encoding library.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong, or how I can do it right would be very much appreciated.

Thanks Tina x

you know, I've never dealt with the "LAME" that they want you to get.

I just downloaded GOLDWAVE from their website... it's a free utility, and will allow you to convert to mp3 and back, and lots of other ways.

I like that program, cause you can use different Hz settings, and make the file smaller than the 3MB you have to have to sub it for the Showcase!

Have fun!

Thankoooo Matt,

I'll go check out Goldwave now, although the mention of HZ's puts question marks in my head lol.

Maybe I'm not advanced enough to submit songies, but I'll give it my best shot.

actually, that needs the lame file too. Just do a search on the lame file on google. There's several places to do it.

the hz is all explained in the Goldwave help file... just read it. It's under the "Batch Conversion" stuff.

Once you download lame you have to tell Audacity where the dll is located.

Within Audacity:
File - Preferences - File Formats - Find Library - Yes

Then browse for where you put the lame_enc.dll and click 'Open'.

That's all there is to it.
