Depends on who you ask. I look at sites that make statements they have and are paying their license fees.
http://www.karaoke-version.com/
Has a blurb at the bottom with regard to respecting copyright laws. They also have a blurb on public performance in their help which covers PRS (UK). US public performance is covered by BMI etc.

Here is another:

for:

There are more but this is to give you an idea. Some are concerned with whether downloads from UK or Canada are legal in the US and I really don't understand all the mechanics of it all. I question why these download sites aren't blocked in the US if they were not legal but that's just me.

Here's one that is US based I think.

It's a really new deal and most of us are still scratching our heads over what we think of it. But, I think you can buy tracks from them.

Tricerasoft is a good site, and their prices are reasonable. The quality of many of the tracks that Tricerasoft sells is quite good. You get a receipt emailed to you, plus you get to keep the back-up zip file, which you can

Nobody has gotten sued over using these downloads. There are some here who would like to see everyone get sued who doesn't do things their way. There are others who think that Homeland Security will sue for using these downloads. Personally, I don't think it would be worth suing KJs for using this stuff, so they never will sue anyone.

The simple answer to that question is that as a rule the US doesn't block websites because the First Amendment generally prohibits the government from doing so.

That's why I don't believe anything about the UK downloads being illegal. Could just be another marketing tactic by the America mfrs. Scare people off the UK sites so they will buy our garbage.
