Lonnie, did the speakers "fall" out of the back of the van?

The pitch I got was that they were doing a home theater install locally and they loaded too many on the van back at the warehouse. The installer being the stand up guy he is doesn't want to get the warehouse guy in trouble by taking them back, so he's offering to sell them at a highly discounted price....lol.

I don't know, after I laughed I just walked away.
A friend of mine was duped into this same spiel (or very similar anyway) a few years back and the speakers he paid $100 for were nothing more than generic swap meet specials - they were in fact new in box. Claiming 1000 watts power handling (unheard of for most home speakers unless paying out the nose for since most home stereo can't push more than 100 watts per channel).

Listen guys, I know this chap in Nigeria and if you give me your personal and banking information, he said he could send us some certified cheques for over a million dollars so we can cash them. Apparently the banks there can't handle it. He said after we cashed them, we could keep 25% and send the rest to him. So are you interested?

The police won't knock on your door.. The coins are China counterfiets..

Ask him if they were Technical Pro. They come from the factory at that price and fit the description exactly. The "1000 watts" is MAX at 2 ohm...

hey guy's, my name is Charverick Ancog just want to clear with all of you that are pretty much talking trash about me and this law suit with stellar records.

1) i've NEVER resold any songs or made coppies, this was all private use.
2) the company i bought it from had a huge website that was operating in the open. it looked legit and i even payed with a credit card and got a receipt.

this could happen to ANY of you so watch out.

try to get more info before you start dragging someones name around.

thanx

So the key here is the receipt. Hang on to it!

These types of sellers tend to change their tactics in order to continue ruining the market. We get consumers all the time that question our pricing because other sellers are peddling loaded drives at rediculous prices. Example; We sell an empty Cavs Jb-199 w/cd drive for $1795. And the consumer says they can get a unit loaded with 16,000-22,000 songs for $2,100-$2,499.

When investigating the company who was selling it, they clearly stated that all the major brands were loaded, including soundchoice. WOW, all for $2,499. No wonder the consumer does not wish to buy it from us.
Another consumer mentions this same store a month later. Further investigation suggest that they are feeling
a little heat from piracy news online and are changing their tactics. They now do not mention namebrands, yet still boast over 16,000 songs. AND they are now saying that the unit is on consignment. Which sounds like they are saying "Hey, we are selling it for someone else" Real shame, and it hurts legit sellers and honest kj's, puts people out of work.

We feel the kj's pain that we contintually see written in these forums. We suffer too!

Take care, God Bless.

One would have to be an idiot to buy one of those drives, or a loaded CAVS machine. There is a big difference between that and buying a set of DK SCDGs.

Yes, I did buy the DK set. And there is a big difference between that and buying a loaded hard drive or loaded CAVS system. I figured that was self explanatory.

Do you HONESTLY think I care about your feelings toward it?? Why don't you just get it over with and call me a pirate. Your morality doesn't impress me, in the slightest.

Like I said, it doesn't matter! I could care less what you do! I have never called you a pirate & you know that. Do what you want. I hope things get to a point where you cannot use those discs IMO - but chances are they won't so who cares (to use your words)!

I know you never have called me a pirate. I just figured I would give you the opportunity, just in case you were itching to. I HAVE been educated, turned away from the evil I was going to do, and now I have a disc or download receipt for every song I own.

Humor me for a minute here:

If DK properly created SCDG's (paid the ip owner royalties) and then went out of business here and fled the US then there is a chance that the DK's being sold online could be from a legit surplus, right?

From what I've read DK isn't saying one way or another and I've not seen any suits against DK for the creation of the discs (maybe due to no longer producing and/or no longer being in the U.S.) or maybe they were created legally

If I buy a large volume of product(s) in surplus I can sell to whoever for whatever price I want (hopefully for a profit), but that could still be well under what the current MSRP is on discs. Just because the price is extremely low doesn't make these discs illegal.

I don't have access to the DK SCDG's to look at the quality of the disc, label, packaging, check for the existence of a ring code, or anything else to determine their authenticity, so as a consumer how are you to know? Especially when in the past manu's have said they are doing things properly and later being sued for ip infringement.

Off to work on my beat matching skills and creating samples. The DJ world looks to be a lot less stressful.

Yes, that is entirely possible, on those specific facts.

There may be other reasons why that is either impossible or improbable. What it would mean, if it were true, is that DK or someone downstream from them took a bath on the royalties, and that the discs were sold to try to recoup some money, in a "fire sale" type of situation.
