There's a lot of talented people on this site and I love to listen to all of them. Trouble is, POKEY OL' DIALUP!! I'm on the road...let's say 90% of the time...and my listening is limited by the hotel internet connection speed. Believe it or not, last month my connection speed was between 12 and 24kbps. Heck, ya'll could have mailed a disk to me in the time it took to hear one tune! I try to respond to all comments on my subs (which are few and far between while on dialup) but, by the same token, I cannot listen to all who commented.
The moral of this story is:
I'm groveling here...cut me some slack, will ya? I love all ya'll's tunes, but sometimes I can't get to them. (And it really breaks my heart....)
Smoochies to ya!

Personally, I've never ranked Allstar, higher than 4, but it really has nothing whatsoever to do with his vocal abilities. It's just that his mix's are so God awful!

This is hammer, lest Rhonda get any flack from my comments here. I am new here (states obvious fact). After reading and listening, I can't believe people are complaining about ratings on here. The ratings I have seen and lots of the comments are way WAY liberal quite often. I didn't say this is bad. Pats are nice, wonderful even; but (do NOT call me simon, unless i get a paycheck) I have steered away from any critiques or even slightly low ratings because of the Leave it to Beaver responses on here. We have the choice to not have a sub rated. I think that is great. I think those that want ratings, should expect honest responses. There are some great singers on here, quite a few in fact. I don't think the best singer I have heard on here would get a 10 on every post. In fact, when performing out of their main style, I would honestly give a 5,6, or 7 at times. It isn't a comment on the person, but an honest review of the song. I have not done that, especially after reading about people's sensitivity.
I also think, an explanation for a lower rating is fair to ask. I would have no problem, in fact I know I am my worst critic (usually). When i ask to be rated, I don't want a bunch of YES people, I can get that from my friends, I want honesty and maybe even suggestions and help.
I do enjoy singing and all that goes with it, probably to the point of an addiction. The point is for fun, there is always that don't rate button. Oh, and I hate politics, I hope no one would rate someone poor as an act of revenge, but I guess in the real world it happens. Nothing can be done about that. If you would do that...know in your heart -- YOU SUCK.
, I'll rarely be the highest quality singer out of a group larger than 1. But, I'll never stop trying too.
The alternate systems discussed here, are really good ideas as well. Anyway, that is my opinion and thoughts.
I hope I do not upset anyone with these comments. I don't usually ever post things anywhere; and can take it if ya'll want to yell at me, and I am not under the misconception this will solve anything.
Peace and smiles all around...Hammer

argh...I just can't stop thinknig about this topic, and there is another thread related to this, myabe this is the wrong place...but...here goes..
Any comments and ratings I have posted so far have been accurate and fair, if the general consensus has been higher than I thought, I just didn't post or rate. Too scared too. Also, don't assume I thought it was poor. If everyone has given totally awesome and glowing posts and 10s, and I felt it was an 8 or 9 according to my interpretation, I probably didnt comment or rate.
10 - Professional, perfect, can be performed on stage or put on a CD and handed to Non-Karaoke people (who are big critics) and they wouldn't bat an eye. Doubt Ihave ever done a 10 myself, though I have heard quite a few on here, from professionals ( i assume) because they are that good.
9 - Awesome, great, just missing something that would make it perfect. A 9 for most of us, means ir should be lauded, applauded and would love to hear it again and again. Hit all the notes, good feeling or interpretation, and among the best.
8 - Most likely the best I have ever heard someone do of a tough song, or very good, accurate and nice, but missing some notes, expression, or needs improvement in some major area. very listenable.
7 - Work it!! Average to good. Out in public, no problem, better than most, but needs more work to be great, but not bad at all. Reasonable to perform in public.
6 - Typical decent karaoke version that you would classify as good at some places in public. Generally hit most notes, knows the song, has some feel for it. Maybe it was the wrong song for you or lacks feeling or tone or I just didn't get it. Could be a just for fun song and the person (or myself) did not care if it wasn't all in key but loves teh song...
5 or lower - I would really be afraid to give a 5 on here. This would apply to more than half the songs I hear out at the clubs. They don't know the song well, aren't in key and probably should not perform again without learning the basics. If you sing just because you like teh songs without regard to sound or dont care if anyone likes it. Then don't worry about getting the rating.
SO, I AM ASKING for opinions here......should I rate songs on here or not? If everyone thinks I should keep this to myself and my comments, I WILL. Also, if someone wants serious revue of a song, but not on a public platform, message me, I will be happy to!!!!!!!
Also, if you have negative comments on something I have submitted but aren't comfortable posting them with the song, please send them to me...
IN FACT, IF you have constructive thoughts....PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!! Just be honest as far as I am concerned. I want to improve AND have fun here with what seems to be mostly real good [people
Thanks, for your time reading these looong postings

You ARE a brave soul aren't you?!
For myself, I would be very happy for you to rank, critique, whatever. If I'm doing a song for fun I usually put that I am or I don't check the rank button. Especially the last song I did...I think I know where the problem areas are but I'd love to get your input!
And welcome, welcome, welcome to you and Rhonda!
